Availability
I don’t currently work and both of my children are in school so I have open availability during weekdays. I also have limited flexibility during term breaks, in the evenings and weekends when my husband is home.

A typical day
Having worked in the behavior and socialization department for 5 years our sole focus was on evaluating what type of interaction a pet needed most and then providing that. Whether it was some cuddles, grooming, calm presence, scent work, training or tricks, a long walk or playing fetch.

Former Animal Care Supervisor & Behavior Volunteer
Pet care experience
I’ve had pets since I was born and started to help care for them at an early age. Throughout my life I have owned 5 cats and 4 dogs, raising all but one as puppies and kittens. After graduating from university I worked at my local human society as an Animal Care Associate and eventually moved up to the Animal Care Supervisor. During this time I also fostered undersocialized (feral) cats & kittens and some puppies with behavior issues. After moving I volunteered at another animal shelter in their behavior department, usually helping assess what each individual dog needed most to aid in their adoption (socialization, training, exercise or cuddles). I eventually became a volunteer trainer for new volunteers in that department. I don’t currently have any pets, but miss interacting with them.

Reviews
Amanda was extremely reliable and flexible, and provided very clear and prompt updates about our cats. She connected very well with them and monitored their wellbeing closely. They will miss her!

Amanda was great with our two cats, Opal and Tourmaline. With one being very timid and the other very needy of attention, we were a bit worried to leave them; however, Amanda completely alleviated any stress or worry for the whole 2 weeks we were gone. Her communication was fab, and she was very observant of the girls' behaviour. Our ‘non-existent’ cat, Tourmaline, was very trusting and affectionate towards Amanda after only 3 days, so that’s a huge win for us (and shows a lot about Amanda's approach and nature). It was great to have updates and photos each day too, which really showed how well they were looked after. Will be using Amanda for cat-sitting going forward and highly recommend to anyone who is worried about leaving their fur babies.

Thank you for looking after Reg. He was laying in the garden looking very chilled when we arrived home. Great job as usual we will always use you when we can.

Highly recommend Amanda, she’s very reliable and lovely with my dog Bella.
