Warm, Experienced, Mature Petsitter
Hi there! I'm Amanda, and I'm a 43 year old lifelong animal lover & animal behavior nerd, that has been providing occasional petsitting and housesitting for friends and community for about 15 years in the metro Boston, Atlanta, & Asheville areas, and now petsit full time for cats, dogs, and small animals. I even have experience working at an animal hospital assisting veterinary technicians and doctors with testing, medication, grooming, first aid, and general care! I grew up with a Siberian husky, fish, and guinea pig, along with family that bred rottweilers, and have done rescue work and fostering with husky, malamute, and pug rescue groups, as well as sitting for dog breeds ranging from rescued pit bull terriers, to award winning toy, miniature, & standard show poodle breeders, to paraplegic rescue mutts, to great danes trained as mobility service dogs, so I have extensive experience with dogs of all sizes, activity ranges, and temperaments. As a huge nature lover and avid hiker, I'm always delighted to take your pup (or kitty, if leash trained!) on woodsy walks daily! While I am not a certified trainer, I'm familiar with many training methods and understand daily training needs as well, so I'm very happy to assist and continue with training during sits, whatever furry, feathered, or scaley species your babies may be! Cats are an absolute joy I've come to adore, having lived with many over the past 15 years, and recently gotten to live with and help raise a tiny kitten for the first time! I've worked with diabetic cats, giving daily injections, as well as numerous cats & dogs with various oral medication and special mobility needs, so I'm comfortable with all sorts of special needs furbabies. Over the years I've been fortunate to learn so much more deeply about and work with small pets like rabbits and guinea pigs, and love caring for these gentle creatures. I have some experience living with and caring for chickens, parrots, snakes, and lizards as well. While avian and reptile care is still somewhat newer to me, I've developed quick rapport with the few snakes, lizards, and parrots I've had the pleasure of meeting and caring for over the years! I have minimal experience with horses and livestock animals, but I do have some and very willing and excited to learn more. I do have a couple minor physical limitations due to lower back problems; I have medical restrictions on lifting over 20 lbs or working bent over for long periods, so despite my active lifestyle, I am unfortunately unable to work with animals over that weight limit that need to be lifted, carry large bags of food, litter, etc. I am totally able to break down bags of food/litter and moving them in smaller containers though, and do normal household chores like trash, laundry, and cleaning without any issues. As I haven't used Rover a whole lot for my work, I can also link you to my Trusted Housesitters profile via message to see my many 5 star reviews from other pet parents!
Qualifications
Safety, trust & environment
I currently offer full time, professional, highly experienced pet-sitting in my clients' homes, and have no pets of my own (my previous career unfortunately just wasn't suitable). I will happily walk your pup (or kitty! Or ferret, or iguana, you name it!) a few times a day, including longer walks and hikes if desired, and plenty of cuddles and playtime. I have considerable dog training experience, so can offer some continued training support if there is anything you're working on as well.
Ratings and reviews
Thanks Amanda, for everything! Miles loved his walks with you and can’t wait to hang for the weekend!!

When I was looking for a dogsitter to stay at my house with my two pitbull mixes (including one very anxious & neurotic one) a friend suggested their friend Amanda. Amanda took excellent care of my dogs and my house. I have had her dogsit since then on several occasions and have always been happy with how the house and dogs have been on my return. And my dogs LOVE her!
This was our first experience not using out usual sitter for a long trip and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. From our first contact with Amanda, we felt comfortable with her. She kept in touch with us as she worked through some arrangements, and was friendly and enthusiastic about taking care of our four kitties. Our initial impressions were confirmed when she arrived at the house to meet us before we left. Amanda was delightful. Throughout our three weeks away, she kept us informed about the cats and how they were adjusting to our absence, sending pictures that clearly showed she had great energy with them - they were relaxed and interacting well with her. Hurricane Helene brought some serious weather issues to our area, but Amanda took it in stride, reporting what was happening and reassuring us that the house was fine. There were some other small issues with things at the house, which we were able to work through easily with Amanda. She is responsible, proactive and communicates clearly. We came home to a spotless house and obviously happy kitties. Hopefully there will be more opportunities for Amanda to come and sit for us in the future - we’d welcome her back again in a heartbeat.
I was delighted with Amanda's pet sitting skills this past month! My kitties, Buster and Maggie, were left in her care for about two weeks and connected beautifully with Amanda. She contacted me on a regular basis and even made a timely trip to the vet when she reported a urinary problem with Buster! I was relieved that she used her skills and common sense to avert what could have become a worse condition. In addition, my house was in spotless condition when I returned with a homemade quiche waiting for me. Amanda thought of every detail, communicated on a regular basis, and was the perfect match for my kitties! I can highly recommend Amanda!!
I have known and loved Amanda for nearly 10 years now, and trusted her multiple times with my cat and roommates dogs for usually a 2 week vacation. She is fantastic and takes excellent care and has always called if there was any question about anything.

Schedule
I am currently petsitting full time. I do occasionally pick up some additional work, however the hours are on my own time and completely flexible, so my schedule can be fully adjusted to the needs of your pets and home. I LOVE house sits, especially long ones, and working with pets where they're most comfortable, and am willing to travel for extended sits! I also have extensive gardening and general basic home maintenance experience, so am happy to care for your home & garden during house sits.

- I want to be able to give your pets the most loving care I can, so please let me know about any existent or recent medical issues and medications, any behavioral notes (any! I've worked with many rescue animals with various issues, so never have any judgement, I just want to know how to give your furkid everything they need!), levels of training, and any special needs! I've worked with all sorts of temperaments, breeds, and sizes of dogs and cats. I do quite extensive cat sitting, though I do have a very mild cat allergy, so while I can happily give plenty of cuddles and attention through the day, I do need to ask that kitties and I just don't share a bedroom overnight.
