Pet care experience
Home Full-Time • Vet Experience
Hi! My name is Alyssa, and I'm 28 years old. Animals have been one of the biggest parts of my life for as long as I can remember, and I've spent all 28 years of my life with animals by my side. If you're looking for someone who will care for your pet like they're part of the family, you've come to the right place. I work from home full-time as a part-time mental health therapist and spray tan artist, which means your pet will receive plenty of supervision, companionship, potty breaks, playtime, enrichment activities, and one-on-one attention throughout the day. My home features a fully fenced backyard for safe outdoor play, plenty of toys and puzzle activities, and even a dog ramp for senior pets or those who need a little extra support. A few things that make me different: 🐾 Home full-time — your pet won't spend the day alone 🐾 Fully fenced backyard 🐾 28 years of living with and loving animals/pets 🐾 18+ years of hands-on pet care experience 🐾 Veterinary hospital experience (approximately 1 year) 🐾 Comfortable administering medications and injections 🐾 Experience with senior, special-needs, and post-surgical pets 🐾 Experience with tripod dogs and mobility challenges 🐾 Bathing, brushing, ear cleaning, and basic grooming experience 🐾 Toys, enrichment puzzles, snuffle mats, and interactive activities provided 🐾 Experience caring for cats, reptiles, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, and other small animals 🐾 Frequent photo and video updates for pet parents Animals have always been one of the greatest joys in my life. In addition to spending my entire life around dogs, I worked as a kennel attendant at a veterinary hospital in North Charleston, where I cared for dogs of all ages, sizes, breeds, temperaments, and medical needs. One of the reasons pet care is so meaningful to me is because I recently lost my beloved Golden Retriever, Cooper, in early June 2026 after a courageous battle with osteosarcoma. Cooper taught me more about patience, resilience, and unconditional love than I could ever put into words. Throughout his journey, I cared for him through amputation surgery, chemotherapy, physical therapy, medications, and mobility challenges, giving me firsthand experience caring for pets who need a little extra support and understanding. While I know I'll have another dog someday, I'm taking some time to grieve and heal before making that decision. For now, I would love nothing more than to share my home, attention, and affection with pets who deserve all the love in the world. Caring for animals has always brought me so much happiness, and I genuinely miss having furry companionship around the house. As a mental health therapist, patience, empathy, communication, consistency, and attention to detail are qualities I use every day—and they're qualities I bring into pet care as well. I understand how difficult it can be to leave your pet with someone else because I've been that pet parent. Whether your pet loves long walks, backyard adventures, enrichment games, couch cuddles, or simply having someone nearby, I'll do everything I can to make them feel safe, comfortable, loved, and right at home. When your pet stays with me, they're not just being watched—they're becoming part of the family. ❤️

Schedule
Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I work from home and have a flexible schedule. This allows me to provide frequent potty breaks, walks, playtime, enrichment activities, medication administration if needed, and plenty of one-on-one attention throughout the day. One thing that makes my care a little different is that I do not currently have any pets of my own in the home, and I do NOT take on multiple Rover boarding clients at the same time. This means your pet receives individualized attention and isn't competing with other animals for affection, supervision, or care. Because I am home most of the day, pets staying with me are rarely left alone for extended periods. Whether your pet enjoys playing in the backyard, working on enrichment puzzles, going for walks, or simply relaxing nearby while I work, they'll have plenty of companionship and attention throughout their stay. My goal is to make your pet feel safe, comfortable, loved, and as close to home as possible while you're away.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
Your pet's safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. I live in a pet-friendly home with a fully fenced backyard where dogs can safely play, explore, and exercise under supervision. Because I work from home, I am able to closely monitor pets throughout the day and quickly notice any changes in behavior, appetite, energy level, mobility, or overall well-being. Unlike some boarding situations, I do not currently have any pets of my own in the home, and I intentionally limit the number of Rover bookings I accept at one time. In most cases, your pet will be the only Rover guest staying with me. This allows me to provide individualized care, reduce stress, minimize the risk of conflicts between animals, and ensure your pet receives my full attention. Before every stay, I take time to learn your pet's routine, feeding schedule, medications, favorite activities, sleeping preferences, and any special needs. I am comfortable administering oral medications and injections, including insulin, and I have experience caring for senior pets, post-surgical pets, tripod dogs, and pets with mobility challenges. Inside my home, pets have access to comfortable places to relax, enrichment activities, snuffle mats, puzzle games, toys, and plenty of one-on-one attention. I also provide regular photo and video updates because I know firsthand how reassuring it is to know your pet is safe and happy while you're away. My goal is simple: to provide a safe, loving environment where your pet feels comfortable, cared for, and treated like family.
A typical day
Your dog will be treated like family while they're with me! Since I work from home, they'll get plenty of attention, affection, and supervision throughout the day—not just quick potty breaks and time alone. Depending on your pup's personality, our days may include backyard fetch, enrichment puzzles, sniff games, splash pad fun on warm days, neighborhood walks, lounging on the patio soaking up the sunshine, endless pets and belly rubs, and lots of one-on-one playtime. I also love taking dogs on adventures such as dog-friendly parks, beach outings, pup cups, dog ice cream dates, or even boat rides with owner approval. Whether your dog is energetic and adventurous or prefers naps and cuddles, I'll make sure they have a fun, safe, and enriching stay filled with love and attention.
