My husband Paul and I enjoy flexible work schedules that allow us to work from home when we see fit and adjust our work commitments to accommodate dog care. We also only live <10 min walking to our offices, so it's very easy for us to manage unexpected needs without hugely impacting our routine or home commitments. Currently, we are only offering daycare and boarding Fri–Sun to see how we (and our dogs) like it before expanding to more days. Our main motivation is to diversify the interactions of our dogs and make new friend connections in the Oxford area :)

Introductions: Whether for Day Care or Boarding, we will aim to introduce new dogs to ours on neutral grounds, initially on their leads, for at least 10 min — either on our front driveway or in the enclosed park around the corner. Please take this time into account when dropping them off. Our boys get very excited at the prospect of a new play buddy (and perhaps yours too) so we're all about setting the tone. Funnily enough, our boys' excitement dies down after the first 10 min such that you wouldn't have even guessed they were so interested to begin with! :p Doggy Day Care (Fri–Sun: earliest drop-off 0800, latest pick-up 2200): Your pup will be integrated into our fambly's (family's) routine, and we will incorporate any personal requests or considerations based on your detailed instruction. Our routine generally involves: regular potty breaks (every 2-4 hours), at least 1 x 1-hr continuous walkie/physical exercise outdoors (see potential Environments/Areas section below), post-walkie snack (typically a chewy stick, but please provide your own if you have a specific preference) and occasional snacks throughout the day (fresh foods – veggies/fruits/cooked proteins, biscuits). We are able to offer your dog a coat/jumper for rainy/mucky days if they are the same size as our dogs (10 kg). We will towel down everyone after a walk and will happily bathe your dog after a particularly mucky outing unless you prefer us not to. Partly the reason for this (aside from clean doggies!) is that we allow dogs on our furniture. We have dog beds and two crates for fambly friends that prefer some separate alone time, but they are also welcome to nap on the couch and our beds if this is a habit you allow yourself at home. We will generally strive to maintain whatever training and habits you have set for your dog, so please advise us when you drop them off. Dog Boarding (up to 3 nights Fri–Sun: earliest drop-off 0800, latest pick-up Mon 0800): Everything under Doggy Day Care + meals. Please, we prefer that you provide enough food to cover all of your pet's meals and advise us on their feeding schedule. We would also appreciate your guidance on diet/snacks in general: we tend to supplement our dogs' 50:50 kibble/raw food diet with fresh foods (fruits/veggies/cooked proteins), their post-walkie chew stick and very occasionally training treats (we tend to just use fresh foods for training). Lots of cuddles and interactive playtime at home in the evenings; feel free to drop off their favourite toy(s) or home comforts, but we also have a decent selection of chew toys, ropes, squeaks and balls. We don't tend to have many soft toys because our 5yo dog really enjoys meticulously gnawing and destuffing them... but it's also fine and easy to tidy up after! We just don't recommend dropping off your pet's favourite soft toy ;) Environment/Areas: In addition to our home and enclosed garden, we are in spitting distance (<5-10 min) from open fields and meadows (University Parks, Merton College Sports Grounds and Music Meadow, Christchurch Meadows, etc), as well as enclosed walking/cycle paths, nature walks and river trails. We always try to get at least 1-hour of proper outdoor stimulation/physical exercise a day (not including travel time), supplemented with interactive play at home. For precaution's sake, it is very likely that we will exercise your dog on-lead unless in a confirmed enclosed space. We have a 30-meter stake & cable that will allow dogs to roam a bit more freely while still on lead (necessary for our youngest pup who is still working on his recall!) We would appreciate details of any GPS pet trackers you use as this would make off-lead walks easier for us to consider once we're familiarised with your dog's habits (FYI, both of our boys use PitPat tracker. If you do too, let's be friends!)

Information Alyssa Jennifer A. would like to know about your pet
We would appreciate knowing their (your) diet preferences, i.e., what snacks and food you are okay with them having (or not having!) We would also like to know what training or house habits you would like us to reinforce while in our care (e.g., perhaps you prefer your pets to not sleep in human beds – we can deal with that!) It is unlikely that we would walk new pack members off lead and we have long cables to still provide them some freedom in open spaces, but it is still generally useful for us to know how strong their recall is and their tendency around other dogs encountered while on lead (are they reactionary?)
A typical day
A typical day will be brekkie around 7/730a (for dog boarding) and morning relief in our back garden. Some morning lounging while the humans get ready and finish having breakfast. Energetic dogs may join Paul on a 5k morning run around Uninsured Parks and further afield near Jericho/Port Meadow, Christchurch Meadows, etc. We will head out for a long walkie (e.g., walk or drive out to a local woodland or group play park) sometime between 1100-1300 depending on the weather where the dogs can get their beans out and have a proper sniff around. When we get home, depending on how mucky the day was, we may give them a nice warm sudsy shower before receiving their post-walkie snack — usually a 97% chicken/duck chewie. Then everyone is free to roam and snooze around the house. Usually energies pick up again closer to dinner time (6/630p) with lots of play and gentle wrestling through the evening until bed time. All throughout the day, everyone gets let outside regularly (potty checks every 2-4 h), plenty of fresh water and interaction. Bed time tends to be around 10p where everyone is welcome to pile into bed or take one of the dog beds. We also have crates for those who enjoy more personal space (both of our dogs are crate trained too, so very happy to hang out in their "rooms.")

Pet care experience
We are looking to expand our dog pack by welcoming new dog friends into our home! :) My husband Paul and I live in a multi-level house in Holywell Street, just around the corner from University of Oxford buildings, University Club, University Parks, Merton College Sports Field & Music Meadow, Christchurch Meadows and general city attractions. With a large enclosed garden lined with mature trees and hedging, doggos will have a fantastic space for zoomies! In terms of experience, we have raised both of our boyos from 8 weeks, so are very experienced with the needs of puppies (potty schedules, diverse socialisation), adolescents (setting boundaries, routines) and settled adults (stimulation, space). If you know anything about Patterdale Terriers, you'll know that they are a unique breed of Terrier that are highly athletic/energetic (like a Collie), intelligent (like a Poodle), loyal (like a Retriever/Lab) and independent (not your typically terrier!) so the fact that our boyos are obedient and well-behaved whilst still retaining their eager playful personalities hopefully says something! In addition, I have also previously owned a tuxedo cat (17 years), a Yorkshire Terrier (4 years from puppy; co-raised with my University housemate), a Lionshead rabbit (4 years) and—at one point in time—21 hamsters... So you could say that I am comfortable with navigating various animal antics, can anticipate diverse situations and come up with reasonable & responsible solutions to them that keep everyone happy, stimulated, healthy and most of all safe! Things we believe every pet owner would want if they were to leave their pup in someone else's care :)
Reviews

Super kind to my puppy and really took care with the dogs meeting each other. Hutton had a great time and was super well cared for.

Chapo really loved his stay, he settled well and enjoyed playing with Alyssa's two dogs

Lovely couple with two lovely dogs who Greg was besotted with! They took loads of time to introduce the dogs, show us their home, and make sure we were comfortable with everything. We felt completely confident leaving Greg with Alyssa, as it was obvious how much they loved and cared for their own dogs. Got lots of cute videos and photos too!
Alyssa has done a great job of caring for our dogs. The dogs love doing for walks with her and she provides a comfortable environment for her at her house.
