About Allison M.

Dog skills
Safety, trust & environment
I try to keep them to their normal schedule as much as possible. I do not let dogs off leash, per Boulder county laws. I’m sure your pet is very well behaved, but this is for your dogs safety as well as others. For the same reasons, I won’t take a clients dog to the dog park. Unfortunately I cannot control what other dogs are there and if their owners are watching them properly, so in the interest of safety, I’ll stick to lots of leashed walks and play time in your yard.
Information Allison M. would like to know about your pet
I always want to know what their typical schedule is, a brief description of their personality, any food restrictions, medications, favorite toys/activities, and if there are any behaviors I should keep an eye out for (fence jumping, reactivity with other dogs, leash biting, etc)
A typical day
Every dog is different in terms of energy level, but I’m a big fan of games for both mental and physically exercise. Walks are great too, not just for exercise but also for building a connection with the dog. I also find that food puzzles can be really great activities for dogs, especially if they’re anxious or under stimulated. Cats also have very different personalities. Some prefer to stay to themselves or observe you from a perch, others really enjoy play time and puzzles.

Experienced, attentive pet care
Pet care experience
I’ve worked with animals for over 10 years. My experience includes working at doggy daycare, the Longmont humane society, and volunteering with wildlife. I love supporting animal welfare in whatever way I can. At doggy daycare, I supervised play time and took care of feeding and medications for boarding dogs. At the humane society, I counseled adoptions and advised clients about interacting with new animals, as well as general education about companion animal’s care. I also have my own boxer dog and polydactyl cat. They’re both seniors, and I’ve had my dog since she was a year old and my cat since she was a kitten. I adore them both and they truly are part of the family. My family is incredibly important to me, and I’m consistently mindful that your animal family members are important to you. I’ll always keep that in mind when they’re in my care.
