I grew up on a Midwest hobby farm surrounded by dogs, cats, horses, and ducks, so animal care has always been second nature to me. Today, I share my life with a 5-year-old Belgian Malinois who was born blind. If you know Malinois, you know they are high-energy, intensely smart working dogs. You would never guess mine is blind! Raising and training him from a puppy required extra focus on safety, clear communication, and non-judgmental use of training tools, including Herm Sprenger collars and e-collars with vibration cues. Through consistency and patience, he now walks comfortably in a gentle harness with rock-solid basic commands, recall, and search skills. I share this because I truly understand that every dog has unique needs, training levels, and reactivity. You will never be judged here.
