Before caring for a pet, I think it’s really important to understand their routine, personality, and any specific needs. I always ask about their feeding schedule, dietary restrictions, and any allergies or medications. I also like to know their energy level, favorite activities, and how they behave on walks or around other dogs and people. It’s helpful to understand any triggers (like loud noises or separation anxiety) and what comforts them. Additionally, I ask about house rules—like where they’re allowed to go, sleeping arrangements, and any training cues or commands the owner uses—so I can keep everything consistent. My goal is to make the pet feel as comfortable and safe as possible by sticking closely to their normal routine.

I love making sure dogs are both physically and mentally stimulated, so I like to mix in a variety of fun activities depending on each dog’s personality and energy level. For more active dogs, I enjoy going on long walks, playing fetch, or even light jogging. For calmer or older dogs, I focus on gentle walks, cuddle time, and interactive toys. I also like incorporating basic training games (like practicing sit, stay, or recall) to keep their minds engaged, as well as puzzle toys or hide-and-seek with treats. If the dog enjoys social interaction, I’ll spend time playing tug-of-war or just giving them lots of attention and affection. My goal is always to make sure the dog feels happy, safe, and entertained while their owner is away.
