I have flexibility during most weekdays and weekends to go on walks or do overnights with your companion! Happy to take on longer-term, consistent walks and visits as well as willing to do short-term overnights. Relationship-building is important, with both pets and their humans, and I'm happy to take time to create connections!

Safety, trust & environment
I provide consent-based care for your pet - their agency is important to me, and their experience should center their needs! If your pet needs a lot of interaction and playtime I will engage them to their heart's content, and if they need space I find positive ways to provide a reassuring presence without encroaching on their boundaries. I have a cat who is very affectionate but also has very strong boundaries (no companions will be coming to our home, I'm sorry!), and I am keen to pay close attention to body language and signals to respond to your pet. One size does not fit all, and I will do my best to learn how to best serve your loved one. Please also note that I do not own a car. I use public transit over longer distances and otherwise walk everywhere (which I enjoy!). If you request services outside of my service area, please be mindful of the times at which public transportation is functional (for example, the T does not run before 8am on the weekends).
Information Allison B. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your pet has any special needs or behaviors I need to account for. I have a lot of patience for our furry companions, and want to provide the most compassionate care I can - that includes for pets who are traumatized or require extra work to form connections and build trust. That said, if your pet is reactive, aggressive, prone to biting, or is poorly behaved in a way that makes me feel uncertain that I can keep your pet, myself, or others safe, then I reserve the right to rescind offers to provide care. I want to do my best to set your pet up for success, and it's possible that that may not be with me - and that's okay!
A typical day
I do my best to adhere to each pet's individual needs and routines, which means I may ask you about how their days usually go, what toys or forms of play they prefer, and how I can best engage them. Even if your pet is feeling uncertain around me I will do my best to provide a comforting presence. When walking dogs, I tend to let *them* determine where we go, unless it impacts their/my/others' safety, in which case I may nudge them in a different direction - my philosophy is that it's their walk and their time to enjoy the outdoors, and they should be able to follow the scents or explore the areas they're interested in.

Pet care experience
I've been providing petsitting and dog walking services since 2015, with interspersed pet care for friends, family, and neighbors throughout my life. I have some experience with providing medication to dogs and cats, including to my own cat, who has a trauma background and can be more difficult to handle. I have cared for pets in varying life stages with particular or general needs, and my ethos is to learn about each pet as an individual - their personality, what will bring them the most happiness, and/or what most suits their needs to keep them healthy.
Reviews

Always amazing and caring for my little guy!

Allison was so great with my little geriatric cat. He’s got urinary tract issues, is obese, and was constipated but she did an awesome job at keeping track of all his medications and keeping me updated on his health! She even sent me videos every day because I missed him.

Always amazing and communicative, my cat probably likes her more than me!

Allison is absolutely wonderful! Our cat instantly adored her, and it made us so happy to see how much he enjoys spending time with her. She brought out his playful side and kept him active and engaged. Throughout her visit, she showered him with love and care. We feel incredibly lucky to have found her!
