Pet care experience

Flexible sitter who works from home

I’ve been taking care of animals most of my life. I have always enjoyed being around them. I’ve always done pet care for my friends. I never want animals to stay inside a house or kennel all day if I can help it. Now I just purchased my own home and my work is fully virtual, I have even more time and space resources to devote to animals that need some tender loving care while the owners are away.

Alissa was amazing!!! She watched are two dogs. One of them had been previously boarded at local business and it didn’t go well. Four years later we were reluctant to leave him with anyone but family but they both had a great time with Alissa. She provided daily updates. Took them on a couple of walks a day, trips to dog parks and even gave them a good bath after their adventure into the water. They loved their time with her She place is peace of mind knowing our dogs were in good hands. We will definitely be having Alissa watch our dogs again.

Alissa is such a blessing to Sammie and me during this season of our lives! She takes such tender, loving care of my senior dog and ensures that not only are her needs met, but also that she experiences love, joy, and play during her Rover visits.

Schedule

I work each weekday from 8-5 completely virtually. So the dogs will always be around me. I do have meetings throughout the day, so I usually do significant walks before meetings. I usually also have flexibility to get work done earlier or later if a dog needs more attention or had more energy to exert.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fenced in yard with plenty of shade. I live in a nice, quiet neighborhood great for walks. I have a park a few blocks from me with plenty of good places to walk and explore.

A typical day

Because I have work meetings throughout the day, I usually do walks before my meetings so the dogs are tired enough to occupy themselves while I work. We go on about 4 walks per day, usually always 30 mins or more. I think mental activity is just as important as physical activity. That means that we not only go on walks, but the dogs should have time to sniff everything. Sniffing works the brain while the walk works the body. I also like to do fun games where the dogs have to earn treats or find treats in puzzles. I have many dog parks around me and they are great places to have the off leash freedom and space to fetch. If your dog gets nervous around other dogs, I’ll be sure to modify our agenda accordingly.

It would be helpful to know what kind of socialization level they have with other dogs. Although I don’t have any dogs of my own, after being on Rover for a couple years now, I have some regular clients that come for daycare every week. So I would need to make sure they get along. I do have days without any other dogs that I can accommodate those dogs that may not be as social.
