I work part-time at a local coffee shop/bakery, so have plenty of afternoon/evening time for walks and check-in visits. I can usually respond on fairly short notice. When not at work I love to sit or walk outside at your pet's pace! In the summer I'm well-trained to get up before the sun for those walks in the cooler air!

When caring for your pets in your home, I am great at following directions! I'll want to know your and your pet's routines so I can give them meals and walks (and meds, if required) on time. I'd love to know about your pet's favorite games and toys -- caring for your pet involves more than just meeting their basic needs! I love reading and crochet, which are two great activities to do while hanging out with your furry pal at home. :) If I do house sitting, I will always walk your dog each day if that's what they're used to. On walks, I am attentive to our surroundings and always keep track of traffic, approaching dogs, and other potential challenges. For example, my dog was particularly upset by skateboarders - I'd love to know your pet's quirks so that they can focus on sniffing around on walks! If doing overnight stays, I am tidy and responsible. Happy to bring in mail, water plants, or turn lights on/off as is helpful to you.
Information Alison W. would like to know about your pet
It's really helpful to know if your pet has any particular likes or dislikes, both in their home space and things to look out for on walks (if we're doing walks). Do your pets need any medicine? Do they have a particular process for eating or doing their business? Do you want photo updates from my visit? I also love to hear about your nicknames for your pets!
A typical day
On a typical day we'll wake up and have a big morning stretch. We've got to take time for a sniff-walk around the neighborhood or a nearby park! We'll play with their favorite toys and do some DIY enrichment - practicing new tricks they're learning, digging treats out of a bag of newspaper, or snuffling for hidden treats around the living room! (Don't worry, I always clean up the leftovers!)

Pet care experience
I've had pets since I was but a wee kid, including a bunny, dogs, a cat, guinea pigs, and a chameleon! A real menagerie. Along the way I've cared for the big and small dogs and cats of friends and loved ones. I recently spent 9 years taking care of my own dog, a sweet-but-demanding pit bull mix. Ada trained me well to work with reactive dogs and to learn the quirks of individual animals in order to keep them safe and well. There's just nothing like the joy of a happy pet! Dogs are my favorite, but I love to care for pets of all kinds. I love doing the extra things along the way that make a pet happy, whether that's hand-feeding them their supper because they're sulking or tossing their favorite sparkly ball across the kitchen over and over again. I have extensive experience with dog training, medication bribery, and navigating long walks with a reactive dog. I'm familiar with parks and trails all over town, and happy to walk your dog in your neighborhood or farther out if you prefer. Can't wait to meet your pal and give them the excellent care they deserve! I work part-time at a bakery downtown (Mon- Thurs 6a-12p), so I'm available for walks and drop-ins Mon-Thurs afternoons.
Reviews

Alison has looked after my cat many times and done a great job every time. I'd highly recommend her

This is our third time having Alison stay with our dog Snacks. As always we came home to a happy dog and a clean house. We have such peace of mind when she stays with him, it allows us to enjoy our trip even more!

This was Alison’s second time staying with Snacks and we hope she will be back for more. Great updates, happy, comfortable pup and a clean house. We are so thankful for the wonderful care she provides!

Alison is a very loving and dependable pet caretaker. She responds daily with updates and photos, and responds quickly to all of our needs. She has not only taken out dog to the vet while we were away, but also stayed an extra night when our plane was delayed. We felt very secure knowing that she was taking care of our 2 dogs while we were on vacation.
