Reach out to me and let's see if we can figure something out! I work Monday to Friday until 2pm and then I'm all yours. Weekends are open unless I've got something else scheduled prior. As for routine, I don't live with any pets at the moment, but I take evening walks around the UOP campus to visit the cats for cuddles in exchange for a snack price.

Safety, trust & environment

Is your pup an inside or outside dog? Do you prefer them to spend most of their time with people inside, outside, or a balance between the two? I love providing the attention and playtime stimulation active dog types need. Typically, I can crate your dog if needed, but prior to that please let me know if your pets are crate trained. I have some experience with helping anxious pups get over their fears of the crate. It's important to me to understand the quirks, occasional anxieties, or dislikes of your pet. An example? Well, do you live in a neighborhood with a lot of stray cats? Let's make sure we stay out of the rooms that have dog height windows that the stray cats frequent. I only want you to feel confident about the care and safety I provide your pet, so you can ask me as many questions as you like - but I will also come with many questions for you too!

Information Alison S. would like to know about your pet

Does your pet have any: - medications, oral or needed to be injected? - peeves, things that they cannot tolerate that a typical animal might like (e.g. not all dogs love belly rubs, my dog growing up couldn't stand them!) - do they jump, scratch, or know how to respect human boundaries when establishing your dominance in their home space? - when walking, do they need any special leads, leashes, or mouth coverings? - pre-existing conditions? let me know and I will modify any activities I might typically do with a fully fit animal and accommodate them

A typical day

If the weather is nice enough out, not too hot, we can go and play in the backyard (if you have one) or out for a walk, on your typical walking route if you have one. Once it's too hot out, we go inside and stay cool! Play time can be during the walk, or at your pet's home depending on how they're feeling! Show me your animal's favorite toy and it'll soon we nap time with all the playtime we are going to have. If any toys are a hazard and need to be taken away at the end of playtime, that is always something I keep track of.

Pet care experience

Well, once upon a time when I was growing up, I used to walk my Rottweiler Lucky down our block. When we went to the block across the street, we always ran into a few stray dogs being that we lived in rural Thailand. Me and my dog had this fanclub of strays, mostly wanting to sniff her butt, but also loving the pets I would give them. My dog LOVED the attention (but not on her butt), and being able to continue walking down the block with them swarming around us was something I don't think is a common experience here in the US. I am a huge dog and cat lover, but dogs have always had my heart. I have been a lifelong advocate for the stray dogs in Thailand. During highschool I got involved in a club to help fundraise for stray dogs to vaccinate them, treat their mange, help them get over parvo, and a lot of other helpful things. I was able to actually work with the teacher supervising the club to get the female stray dog from my prior story neutered after her second pregnancy. Now I help out at the Stockton Animal Shelter when I can. While I am NOT a certified trainer, I have provided basic training (sit, stay, heel, shake) to a my Rottweiler, and a stubborn adult Corgi who was my college roommates dog. When I would walk shelter dogs, I try to see if they have any basic training so we can put it on their profile for potential adopters to see. I have plenty of experience with providing medication for dogs, even the pickiest of pill eaters. I have some experience administering subcutaneous injections, and if you want to show me how you do it, or want me to show you prior to you leaving me with your pet I would be happy to do either. So, yeah! If your pup and I like each other so much after my first visit, maybe we will consider letting you have a say in our next appointment (joking!)

It was nice to meet Alison. She was great with our dog, Chuck (and our kids;).

To whom it may concern: Allison has been such a devoted, hard-working, and dependable volunteer at the Stockton Animal Shelter. There were no jobs too tough for her. Whether it was cleaning out old kennels filled with debris and dust, or safely retrieving dogs from their kennels to assist the photographer, or washing volumes of laundry and dishes, Allison was always up for the task. She also was very talented in creating colorful and descriptive flyers about each adoptable dog to help facilitate finding their “fur-ever” homes. We very much appreciated all of her help.
