Safety, trust & environment

I will look after your dog (or other pets) as well as I would look after my own. I am very aware of the responsibilities of being a pet owner. I will discuss all your requirements with you and ensure that I treat your pets and home with respect. I will make sure that any requests you make are carried out correctly. Whether I am walking your dog or feeding your pet rabbit, I will always ensure that their safety is paramount and that they feel cared for and content.

Information Alison H. would like to know about your pet

I will always meet up with you before looking after your cat or dog, so that I can ensure I am giving you the best service I can offer. We'll discuss things your cat or dog likes or doesn't like, any preferences they may have, how they feel about a stranger coming into their home, how your dog reacts with other dogs, what they are like on their lead etc.. and anything else that is important to them or to you.

A typical day

I am happy to take your dog for a long walk or a slow stroll, whichever you would prefer. Whether your dog prefers to walk slowly and sniff everything or wants to go on a long, fast walk, I will make sure that they enjoy their time with me. Your dog will feel happy and cared for and will be treated in the same kind way that I would treat my own dogs. I will only ever walk your dog(s) on their own, rather than mixing them with my own or dogs from other families. I'll even take my own dog poo bags! I will be happy to just spend time with your cat or dog in the house or garden, if that is what you would prefer. We can play whatever games your dog may like, or I can just spend time petting and making your cat or dog feel cared for. I can be flexible on each visit, if required (ie; play games rather than go for a walk on a rainy day). I'll always be guided by you, on what you would like me to do to make your pet happy. I can feed your pet or administer medication, if required. I'll always ensure they have fresh drinking water available, when I leave. If your cat or dog has had an accident in your home, when I arrive, I am happy to clean this up.

Pet care experience

Dogs have been in my life since I was 7 years old, when I was given a Jack Russell puppy for my birthday. He was the start of my interest in and love for dogs of all shapes and sizes. Throughout my adult life, dogs have consistently been by my side. I have mainly had rescue dogs, but also have experience of puppies. In the past, I owned a Jack Russell/Chihuahua/Yorkie cross who was quite a handful! I currently have 2 rescued retired greyhounds, who me and my family adore. I am a conscientious dog owner and look after and care for other peoples' dogs as though they are my own. I am aware that all dogs are different and each one has their own special way. Over the years, I have looked after pets belonging to friends and family. I have enjoyed looking after friends cats, even though I haven't owned one personally. I have, in the past, owned a rabbit and am happy looking after smaller furry pets. I have had experience of administering medication to most of my dogs, including my 2 greyhounds. I am fully aware of the importance of medication being given in the right dose and at the right time. I have a certificate in First Aid for Dogs. I have a genuine love of all creatures great and small.

Cannot believe how lucky we are to have found Alison. Our puppy had only been with us 3 weeks when we needed someone to look after her for a weekend due to a pre booked trip. Alison immediately filled us with confidence, her main focus was finding out as much as possible about Mabel and her routine to make it as easy as possible for Mabel. We had loads of updates and photos while we were away and the house was spotless when we got home. Will 100% be booking again!

Rost had the best time with Alison, she’s friendly, took the time to ask questions about Rost before his first walk, absolutely fantastic!

Alison dog sat for us for the day at very short notice. She made time before the day to come and meet me and my dog. She made sure she took notes on everything she needed to know and made me feel completely at ease. This is the first time using a sitter, Alison responded promptly to all messages, kept us updated throughout the day on how Frankie was doing. She treated Frankie like one of her own and he seemed very content and happy when we got back. Alison is a nice, easy going person and is easy to talk to. Would definitely recommend and will definitely use again for future sitting needs.
