I currently work most days at Hood River Adopt A Dog as lead shelter tech at Hood River Adopt a dog between the hours of 7am-3:00pm Monday-Friday. I also sometimes work as a shelter tech at Columbia Gorge Humane Society on Sundays from 7:00am-5:00pm. I’m always happy to squeeze in an afternoon stroll or drop by after work. The nice thing about my current hours is that I basically have all evening after work to hang out with your furry friends. My schedule isn’t always consistent so be sure to check with me before booking. I will know my full month schedule on the first of each month. I’m always happy to swing by for potty breaks, day care or walks.

Safety, trust & environment

I will do my absolute best to adhere to any and all house sitting instructions. I am honored to be trusted with the care of your beloved pet and I consider their safety and happiness to be my highest priority. I am fear free trained and certified at my shelter job, and have tons of experience working with dogs of all shapes, sizes, personalities and temperaments. I own a Subaru Outback with plenty of space in the back for a large dog or two if transportation is required. I own harness style dog seatbelts for dogs up to 45 pounds and a clip on style dog seatbelt that works for any size dog as long as they have a harness on. I even have a small safety seat designed for dogs under 15 pounds so the little ones have a safe place to ride. I’m not intimidated by complicated feeding or care requirements, dietary restrictions or even administering medications.

Information Alison D. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know ahead of time if your dog tends to be nervous or fearful of strangers. I am willing to take the time to get to know your pet and ensure that they feel comfortable with me. If your dog is extremely fearful I recommend booking a couple drop by visits with me before your trip so I can get to know your dog and make sure they feel safe in my care.

A typical day

Some of my favorite activities to do with your dog include, hiking, long walks, playing with toys, brushing up on training, cuddling, and enrichment games and puzzles. I always curate our daily activities based on your dog’s needs, likes, dislikes and energy level. I do not guarantee hikes or other off site activities unless previously discussed, but if the mood strikes me I will often take dogs on adventures, car rides or hikes as long as the owner and dog are comfortable with it.

Pet care experience

I have a big place in my heart for even the littlest of dogs. I’m more then happy to keep up with your high energy breed’s active lifestyle or take a leisurely morning stroll with your senior pup. I am extremely knowledgeable about dog body language, serious about honoring your training regimen, and passionate about providing your dog the proper enrichment they deserve. I consider the proper care of your furry family member to be my first priority and I will do my absolute best to ensure that they are happy and safe while under my care.

Alison watched our three cats while we were away for a couple of weeks. Great communication and took wonderful care of our fur babies! Highly recommend!

Alison was awesome with our GSD! We were out of town, visiting Hood River for our daughter's wedding. She is professional and communicates very well (video call beforehand, and provided hourly photos and walking routes during). I felt confident that our GSD would be in good hands, and she was. I highly recommend Alison, especially if you're coming from out of town and need a sitter for your fur baby. Thank you, Alison!

Alison was great! She was able to lend a hand last minute, and her communication, updates, and care were timely and reassuring; we felt that our cats and dog were in good hands while we were away. We appreciated having her help out and would gladly ask her to again in the future.
