I’ve been around dogs for over 20 years and have owned medium and large dogs as an adult for more than 10 years. I’m new to Rover, but I’m not new to caring for animals. I also have 16 five-star reviews from previous house-sitting clients on TrustedHousesitters. In addition I am also a nurse and understand when care needs to be escalated due to impending health challenges. Since I’ve been without a dog of my own, I really miss having that animal companionship and having a buddy around. I genuinely enjoy getting to know a dog’s personality and spending time with them, whether that means going for a walk, playing, or just hanging out together. I’ve cared for all kinds of dogs, including anxious, nervous, reactive, and more challenging dogs. I’m comfortable with different types of collars and leashes, including traditional collars, gentle Leaders, and prong collars. I also have experience with dog parks, feeding, bathing, and giving medications (including insulin shots, eye drops, inhalers and pills). I have also triaged more emergency type visits to the veterinary for dogs who have become sick under my care. I know that every dog is different, so I like to learn what works best for each one. Some dogs want a nice walk and some attention, while others are perfectly happy having someone around to keep them company and give them a little extra love. ***It is important to note that I have an immune condition and can not stay in homes with strong smells of pet urine or homes that are not regularly cleaned— dust, debris, trash and dirt throughout the home.

In addition, I cannot provide over night pet care in my own home. As someone who has been on the Trusted House Sitters platform for over a year and a half, I have a consistent track record of treating other folks' homes with respect, care, and attention. I clean up after myself and the pets, keep things tidy, and treat their space as I would want someone to treat my own home. When I’m caring for a pet in their home, I try to keep things as close to their normal routine as possible. I follow the owner’s instructions, pay attention to the little things that make their pet comfortable, and make sure they get the food, medications, walks, and attention they’re used to.

Alisha was absolutely wonderful w my sweet boy, Gus! She clearly cares deeply for the pets she walks and watches and took extra care to understand Gus needs and preferences before she even met him and clearly took great care to give him the best walks possible! Will absolutely be using Alicia again and would highly recommend!
Alisha has been a consistent dog sitter and walker for a long time. She is absolutely wonderful with my large dog. She is self sufficient and tidy with housesitting and a reliable communicator. I can tell she truly loves animals and spending time with them. I highly recommend her!
Alisha pet-sat for our two elderly dogs a couple of times. One of the dogs had diabetes and required twice daily insulin shots. Alisha was extremely reliable and dependable , and we knew we could trust her with our babies when away. She’s a great communicator and she took exceptional care of our home. We highly recommend Alisha for any pet needs!

Alisha was a rock start during our absence. Our poor elderly dog Coby came down with a GI episode right after we left and was up multiple times in the night for a few nights. Between being such a compassionate person and being a nurse Alisha gave him care beyond our expectations. She worked with our vet to change his medications and loved him back into a more comfortable state. Her communication was responsive, clear and very helpful. She also took amazing care of the house, plants and our cat as well. We highly recommend her and would have her back again.
I recommend Alisha 100%! She watched my two babies for 2 weeks, and I didn't have to worry because she is very responsible and loving!

Schedule
I’ve recently stepped away from bedside nursing, so I currently have a flexible schedule and have the time to give pets plenty of attention and companionship. Pet care fits really naturally into my day, and I enjoy having animals around. I’m able to work around each pet’s normal routine and give them the care and attention they’re used to, rather than having to rush in and out.

- Before caring for your dog, I like to get a good sense of their personality, habits, and what makes them comfortable. It’s helpful for me to know if they have any aggressive or reactive tendencies, how they do with children and other dogs, cats and smaller animals, and whether are food aggressive. I would also like to know how they are on leash, if they can go off leash and if they respond to commands. I’d also love to know about their everyday habits, whether they are potty trained, if they’re allowed on furniture, how much they tend to bark during the day, and whether they have a particularly stubborn or strong-willed temperament. The more I know ahead of time, the better I can understand your dog and make sure I’m prepared to care for them the way they’re used to. I prefer to care for dogs that are not terribly strong in addition to being poorly leashed trained as this is a safety hazard for both me and your dog.
