After years of having dogs, I simply understand them. Everything I know in life I have learnt from dogs. 
Every twitch of dog ears is a question, sometimes readiness to join us, other days an alert; every wag of their tail is an exclamation. Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen.
I discovered later in my life that dog companionship could be as comforting to our mind and heart as a deep meditation or 45 minutes run in the morning. When I’m deeply troubled, my dog's devoted loyalty gives me this type of comfort, I can’t get anywhere else.
