I am an avid animal lover and grew up caring for a menagerie of animals while growing up (cats, dogs, rats, mice, guinea pigs). While growing up, my family had a variety of different dog breeds and I am very comfortable with all breeds and sizes of dogs. Breeds that I have cared for include (but are not limited to): Golden Retriever, Chihuahua, Shih Tzu, Lhasa Apso, German Shepard, Beagle, Airedale Terrier, Boxer mix, Labrador, and Collie mix. While I do not currently have my own dog, I still regularly interact with my parents dogs, Charlie (golden retriever), Ted (shih tzu), and Peach (chihuahua). I kennel trained Charlie, a rescue, who had been exclusively crated as a puppy and was terrified of kennels. Peach was also a rescue and had trouble with new people. As a small dog, she felt very threatened by new people who approached her. Over the years with my family, her aggressiveness has ebbed and she is now a very docile couch potato. I currently love and care for my three feline fur babies (George, Cooper, and Mr. Kitty). All three are rescues, each with their own unique personality traits. Cooper was severely shy and skittish when he was rescued. Over the years he has gone from living exclusively under the bed, to being a lap cat and an almost aggressive seeker of love and snuggles. As such, I am very familiar with the wide range of temperaments that exist in dogs and cats alike. I am well aware of the importance of pets feeling safe and secure and will do everything in my ability to ensure all pets in my care have the most enjoyable experiences. I have experience with giving oral medication to both dogs and cats. I am able to follow food schedules and am willing to give baths, if needed.
