Your Pup’s Personal Vacation Home!

Hi! My name is Ali, and I live in Naperville with my husband of thirteen years, Josh, and our 1-year-old son. We have one cat (*Sigh* I knoooow, but I also love the pups!). We live in a single-family home in central Naperville with a completely fenced-in backyard with a stock tank pool! Our backyard is your dog’s oasis. We play outside. We take walks. We tire out your pup in the best way possible, and then pamper them with lots of pets - and even the occasional fancy treat from Two Boston’s OR a puppacino (tiny cup of whipped cream)! (Treats or foods outside your dog’s normal diet, however, are always subject to your approval.) Growing up, I never had the chance to own a dog of my own, so I boarded many in my home. I've cared for dogs as young as twelve weeks and as old as fifteen years. I've had the pleasure of working with special needs dogs, requiring special dietary/medicinal restrictions, mobility issues, anxiety issues, and even medicinal injections for dogs experiencing kidney issues. So you know your furry family member will be expertly cared for and monitored. I love dogs big and small of all breeds, but I have a particular affinity for the "don't-know-they're-too-big" dogs! I love cuddling and petting, but really enjoy playing with pups and their toys as well. I'd love to meet you and your special family member! Let me provide an all-inclusive-style stay for your dog. They might even have a better vacation than you! 😄 Why I love dog sitting Growing up, neither my parents nor I had time to effectively take care of a dog. However, we did dog-sit a miniature poodle, Danny, many times. Danny was such a fun experience for me. My mom would encourage me to be his primary caregiver, which prompted Danny to become my "protector" whenever he stayed at our house. During the occasional nap, Danny would rest by my head and scare off the odd "intruder" (my parents) by growling ferociously. My aunt also owned a show-dog shih tzu named Holly. I adored playing with her as soon as I met her. Holly was very playful and sweet. A perfect cuddly match for my personality. Over the years, I have continued to sit the odd dog. Working for Starbucks for a year or so after college, I loved interacting with my favorite customers' dogs, brought along on their daily walks. From samoyeds to yorkie pups to mixed-breed rescue dogs, I loved petting, playing, and discussing the dog's personality with his or her owner. To this day, I love bonding with others' dogs - from the biggest of the big Newfoundlands to the smallest Highland Terrier mixes. Meet my pets I have one cat, Ygritte, who is a rescue. She’s a big scaredy-cat and often hides and avoids any visitors until a couple days into the stay. About my yard We have a medium-sized, fenced in backyard with a couple trees and a vinyl shed. Lots of grass for your dog to explore and play - especially in summer.

Ali volunteered to set up a meet & greet to get our pup Jax comfortable with her house and cats. Everything went well during his stay with her and she was easy to communicate with and very responsive.

Ali was very nice to work with, very on top of communication. She gave a text update, and my dog felt at home. Lucky loved her vacation.

Sweeney stayed with Ali and Josh for the first time this past weekend, and they were great!!! As usual, Sweeney was a little nervous the first evening, but by the next morning he was right at home! Love that they have the fenced-in backyard also, so Sweeney could run free some. They also took Sweeney on a couple walks over the weekend. A great experience!!!

Safety, trust & environment

I seek to care for your pets better than I care for my own. I pamper my cats, and your dog will get the royal treatment he or she deserves. I ask many questions before the stay to ensure I recreate your pup’s daily routine as closely as possible. I also always spend AT LEAST the first two hours giving your dog my full attention. It’s those first two hours after you’ve departed that most dogs seem to experience anxiety. My goal is to make them feel calm, to show them there’s a kind human who will meet their needs, and care for them lovingly. I do require a Meet & Greet prior to the first stay. This allows your pet to become acquainted with the space, and greatly increases the success of their stay.

Pets

A typical day

A typical day for your dog’s vacation depends entirely upon your pet's daily routine! If I transport your pup, that will be entirely subject to your approval and safety concerns. But personally, my husband and I LOVE walks in the nearby forest preserves: McDowell, Springbrook Prairie, etc. Leashes WILL always be used when outside my house or outside my fenced-in backyard. I do NOT visit dog parks when I am sitting a dog, as predicting the behavior of other dogs can be difficult, especially if I don’t know your dog well yet. I always do my best to avoid situations in which your dog may feel threatened or scared.

I generally require a meet and greet before a stay. It's very important that the pup feels comfortable with ME and around my cats, which we can both tell from a quick meeting. Prior to the meet-and-greet, I will usually request details on your pup’s personality and their potty-training habits. I don't have any particular breed preferences!
