Pet care experience

Your pet’s home away from home!

Hi there! My name is Alexis, and I’m a Baylor University graduate with a lifelong love for animals. I’ve fostered and cared for multiple cats at once, including bottle-feeding kittens and caring for animals with different needs and personalities. I also have cats of my own, so I understand how important it is to have someone reliable and attentive caring for your pets. I’m currently based in Houston and offer dog walking. Whether your dog needs a long walk, some extra exercise, or just a little outdoor time and attention during the day, I’m patient, responsible, and happy to follow their normal routine. I’d love to help make sure your pup gets the exercise, attention, and care they need!

Alexis is absolutely amazing. I felt so comfortable leaving our cat with her. Alexis is very professional, kind and knows what she is doing. I will definitely use her again. It was our cats first time being left and around other cats.

Alexis communicated with us throughout the stay and kept us informed when Greysee became extremely stressed. Unfortunately, the placement did not work out. The concerns were reported on the first night, so everything escalated very quickly, and Greysee ultimately had to be relocated through Rover before the stay was completed. Greysee has had many successful Rover stays with three different sitters, including extended stays and stays in homes with other pets, so the level of distress reported during this stay was very unusual for her. After being transferred from Alexis’s home to another boarding environment with new caregivers, Greysee was described as initially stressed but settling quickly, accepting affection and petting, playing, eating, and drinking normally. Because of that contrast, we are left with concerns about why Greysee reacted so differently during this particular stay. Alexis lives in a one-bedroom, one-bathroom home with two resident cats, which also left limited options for giving Greysee a separate space once she became distressed. I appreciate that Alexis kept us updated and worked with Rover to make sure Greysee was safely transferred. However, because of how quickly the stay broke down, how unusually Greysee behaved in that environment compared with her history before and immediately after, and the fact that the booking could not be completed, our overall experience was not a positive one.

My experience with Alexis was mixed. She was kind and responsive in accepting my last-minute request, but communication and consistency during the stay were disappointing. I had asked for someone to spend a couple of hours with my dog each day, but visits were often much shorter, and I had to check in several times to confirm when she would be there. She was polite and apologetic and was clearly having a busy week at school, but I was left worrying and came home to a dog who was clearly quite lonely. I appreciate her help, though the stay didn’t meet the expectations we discussed.

Alexis was truly wonderful with my pup, and I really appreciated the care and attention she provided. I believe things may have gone more smoothly if my dog didn’t require such specific care instructions, but she handled most of it well, there were a few minor mishaps, and I feel the level of separation anxiety my pup is currently experiencing may not have been fully understood. My only concern was around communication. It could have been a bit clearer and more timely, especially when there were major delays. That said, I know my pup was well loved and definitely spoiled during the stay and for that, I’m grateful.

Schedule

I’m used to having pet care built into my daily routine. My partner and I regularly wake up early to walk our dog before starting the day, and we also take evening walks. I’m comfortable with early mornings, evening walks, and keeping pets on a consistent schedule.

A typical day

I love keeping pets happy and engaged, whether that’s going on long walks, playing with toys, or giving them plenty of snuggles and attention. I can provide daily exercise, enrichment activities, and a comforting routine that helps pets feel secure. With regular photo and message updates, you’ll always know your pet is having fun and being well cared for.

I’d like to know your pet’s normal routine, temperament, energy level, and any behaviors I should be aware of. For dogs, it’s especially helpful to know how they behave on walks, around other dogs and people, and whether they have any triggers or special instructions.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
