The Pet Whisper

Hi! I’m Alexis, and caring for animals has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve been volunteering at local humane societies since I was in high school, which has allowed me to work with dogs of all sizes, personalities, and needs. Over the years, I’ve cared for all kinds of breeds, including toy breeds, and I always make sure each pet gets the gentle, patient care they deserve. What sets me apart from other sitters is my calm approach, strong patience, and reliability. I pay close attention to each pet’s routine, comfort level, and emotional needs, whether that means slow introductions, extra playtime, or just sitting with a shy pup until they feel safe. I also have experience caring for senior pets, managing different temperaments, and keeping animals comfortable in new environments. Your pet’s safety, happiness, and well-being will always come first with me. I treat every animal like my own, and I’m excited to give your furry friend the love and care they need while you’re away!

Schedule

Pet care fits really naturally into my weekly routine. I go to Georgia State University and only have one morning class during the week, except on Fridays. That means my afternoons and evenings are entirely free, giving me plenty of time to walk, play with, and take care of animals. On weekends, I work part-time as a concierge, but it’s on an on-call basis, so my schedule stays very flexible. I’m able to plan around the pets I’m caring for and make sure they always get the attention, consistency, and love they need.

Safety, trust & environment

When I care for pets in my home, their safety and comfort are my top priorities. I have a spare bedroom that’s fully pet-proofed and set up as a cozy, quiet space where animals can relax and adjust to the new environment at their own pace. Once they’re comfortable, they’re free to roam the house, and I use baby gates to gently block off any areas that I don’t want them entering. I live in a gated community with a fenced area where pets can feel safe and secure during potty breaks or outdoor time. There’s also a walking trail right by my place, and for animals who prefer solitude or a calmer environment, I take them on the less-frequented paths so they can enjoy peaceful walks.

A typical day

A typical day with me is all about keeping your pet happy, active, and comfortable. I start the morning with a relaxed walk and some fresh air, and since Lenox Park is just a 2 minute walk from my house, it’s one of my favorite places to take the dogs. We walk the park paths, explore new scents, and enjoy the quiet areas together. There’s also a big open field inside the park, so if your dog loves to run, fetch, or roll around in the grass, that’s where we spend plenty of time playing uninterrupted. When we get back home, I make sure your pet has water, food (if needed), and downtime to relax. Throughout the day, I mix in play sessions, enrichment toys, cuddles, and whatever routine your pet is used to. In the evenings, we wind down with another walk or potty break, and lots of cozy time so they feel safe and loved while you’re away.

Before caring for any pet, I like to learn their routine, personality, and any special needs. This includes their feeding schedule, favorite activities, energy level, how they do on walks, and whether they have any anxieties or triggers. I also like to know if they take medications, have medical conditions, or need extra support with mobility, training, or socialization. I can work with any pet’s needs, whether they’re shy, energetic, senior, or require a little extra patience and care. The more I know ahead of time, the better I can ensure your pet feels safe and comfortable at home while they’re with me.
