Pet care experience

Passionate and skilled about dogs!

What sets me apart as a pet sitter is my deep commitment to not just caring for pets, but enhancing their well-being through specialized knowledge and skills. I'm currently working towards advanced training certifications, which reflects my dedication to continuous learning and professional development in pet care. As a service dog trainer, I have a unique understanding of canine behavior and training techniques. This experience allows me to provide structured, yet compassionate care and training to pets under my supervision. Whether it's working on obedience, behavior modification, or specific tasks, I apply these skills to help pets grow and thrive. Nutrition is another area where I bring added value. I have a strong background in pet nutrition, enabling me to make informed choices about the dietary needs of the pets I care for, if it is ever needed. This is especially important for pets with specific dietary requirements or health concerns. Puppy socialization and obedience are among my key strengths. I love working with puppies, helping them learn the ropes of social interaction, and guiding them through the critical stages of their development. My approach is always gentle, patient, and tailored to each puppy's unique personality and needs. I believe in treating every pet as if they were my own, with all the love, care, and attention they deserve. My goal is not just to be a sitter, but a positive influence in the lives of the pets I care for. No matter the service paid for, all dogs in my care will receive some play based, force free, positive only training for fun!

This is the second time I’ve booked with Alexis, and once again, I’m incredibly impressed! She consistently provides top-notch care for my messi and goes above and beyond to ensure everything runs smoothly while I’m away. Once again, I received regular updates with photos, which always makes me feel connected to my Messi .He is always happy, healthy, and well taken care of when I return. I’ll definitely continue to rebook with Alexis and highly recommend her to anyone in need of a reliable and loving pet sitter.

Alexis was incredible! This was our first time leaving our fur baby with anyone besides family and I would do it again because of her! She kept us updated multiple times a day and was super accommodating, even working around our girl to ensure she ate and was comfortable in her new environment. Marina absolutely loved her and so did we!

Safety, trust & environment

I prioritize pet safety and comfort above all else. When caring for pets, either in my own home or in a client's home, I ensure that their environment is safe, secure, and tailored to their needs. This means removing any hazards, providing a cozy and comfortable space, and making sure they have access to fresh water and their preferred food. Building a bond with each pet is essential for me. I engage in playful activities that suit their personality and energy level, always focusing on positive reinforcement. This approach not only fosters trust but also helps in understanding their unique behaviors and needs. When it comes to training, I strictly adhere to force-free methods. This not only ensures the pet's physical well-being but also supports their mental and emotional health. By using positive reinforcement, I help pets feel confident and comfortable in my care. This approach is gentle, effective, and strengthens our bond, making their time with me a happy and stress-free experience.

Pets

A typical day

Waking up and giving an opportunity for a potty break is the first thing that happens with me. That potty break turns into the first walk of the day, a leisurely sniffari, a dog led walk where they’re allowed to sniff and explore to their hearts content. After about 25 minutes we head back home and breakfast is served. Breakfast is typically served in an interactive way: puzzle feeders and sniff mats. After breakfast, I rest dogs for about 30-45 minutes (1 hour for dogs prone to bloat) to prevent vomiting and any stomach issues. Playtime is next, which is dog centered play mixed with some fun training. By mid morning, it’s nap and settle time. Once that is over we go for another, longer sniffari and do some playtime and training outside. Or we may just settle and people watch if that’s the dog’s preference. After returning, the dog has free play alone with various toys while I get some work done. We repeat our morning routine for the afternoon and evening. With owner permission, we may go to a secure and private dog park or Sniffspot.

Please let me know if your pets have any medication, special needs or quirks so I can accommodate them to the best of my ability. PLEASE NOTE: I am unable to accommodate aggressive or severely reactive dogs at this time. The stated prices are starting points only. If your dog requires constant care due to significant distress when left alone or cannot be boarded with other dogs or you just prefer that your dog isn’t boarded with others, an additional charge per hour, per day will be added to your daily rate. This is because: Dogs with special needs deserve undivided attention to ensure their well-being and comfort. Providing this level of care requires significant time and effort, which justifies the additional charge. Opportunity Cost: By dedicating extensive time to care for one dog, I am unable to take on other clients. This opportunity cost needs to be covered to make the service sustainable. Additional costs will be discussed at the meet and greets
