Hi there! I’m Alex — a lifelong animal lover and dedicated pet care enthusiast. My passion for animals began in childhood, and it grew even deeper when we rescued my heart dog, Max, from Manitoba Mutts Dog Rescue in 2012. I was 12, and he was just an 11-week-old pup. From that moment on, my life revolved around his — walking, feeding, training, and loving him with my whole heart. I lost Max to liver cancer during the pandemic, and it felt like losing a part of my soul. Since then, I’ve been searching for a meaningful way to stay connected to animals. While my current living situation isn’t ideal for having a dog of my own, discovering Rover felt like the perfect opportunity to share my care and experience with other pets. I now share my home with Luna, my sweet 5-year-old cat, who has helped heal me in ways I never expected. Starting a pet care service is my way of giving back to the animal-loving community and continuing the bond I had with Max. I have experience caring for dogs and cats of all sizes. In 2019, I volunteered at a rural dog shelter in Cusco, Peru, where I was responsible for walking and caring for a pack of 20–25 dogs. Friends, family, and neighbors often trust me to look after their pets while they’re away — and I take that responsibility seriously.

Alex was amazing! While away on vacation she looked after our 3 cats and dog. She listened to every specific detail about each pet and gave daily updates. She gave us peace-of-mind while we were away. I recommend Alex for any and all pet needs she offers!
I live down the hall from Alexandria, and my dog Hobbes absolutely adores her—she’s his favorite human! He doesn’t respond to anyone the way he does to her. I’ve relied on Alexandria many times for help with Hobbes, whether it was when work ran late or I was caught in a situation where I couldn’t give him the attention he needed. She has always been quick to step in, taking him on long walks to tire him out, showering him with affection, and making sure he’s cared for. Alexandria has been nothing short of phenomenal. She’s reliable, consistent, and a true animal lover through and through.
Alex is a warm, smart and trustworthy person who happens to adore dogs! She is recognized and loved by many dogs in our neighbourhood. Alex has a natural way with animals, especially cats and dogs. I have trusted her to stay in my home several times while I was travelling and she took exceptionally good care of my dog. This is especially valuable because my dog is a rescue who tends to be anxious and wary of people. Alex is great with communication and asks intelligent questions and makes smart observations. A perfect dog sitter.

Schedule
I currently work part-time (~15 hours/week) as a barista at a small coffee shop in South Osborne, therefore my availability is quite flexible and open.
