Dog Shelter Volunteer :)
Hi! I’m Alex! I’m 24 and a weekly volunteer at Muttville, a senior dog shelter in Mission Creek. I’m on the adoptions team, but when I’m not meeting with prospective adopters, I help take care of around 30 senior dogs between our main floor and quiet rooms :) I have experience with dogs of all breeds, sizes and ability. I’m comfortable medicating dogs orally, topically or ophthalmically (eye drops). I’m also comfortable administering special diets (wet/dry/natural) and regular walks. I’ve taken care of dogs with special needs like anxiety, cancer, Alzheimer’s, blindness, deafness and amputations, so if your dog needs additional care, I’m there! I grew up with a chihuahua and currently have a hamster :)

Safety, trust & environment
I take time to understand the routine that the dog is used to, meaning walks, feeding schedules and playtime. Because I work with senior dogs who often have special needs, I’m very mindful of diets, medications and maintaining a comfortable, safe and consistent environment. I absolutely do not believe in harsh discipline or tie-outs and am not comfortable if asked to administer this.
