Pet care experience

Fur-babies welcomed with compassion

I've been caring for others pets since I was 10yo. Prissy & Ginger (a Boston Terrier & a Pug) were my first loves as I would walk my neighbors dogs for companionship when I could not have my own. As an adult, I still pet-sit for friends, most frequently a 5yo Tamaskan when his owner travels. I was a part-time vet-tech in college and work in a (human) clinic as an adult, so I understand special needs, different medications, and the roll of compassion for all conditions. I work out of the home all week, so can accomodate unique schedule needs. My home has 3 areas that a pet can be isolated from others, if needed. I also have a large (unfenced) yard for endless roaming and sniffing, and a 2nd story deck overlooking my back acre for fun and safe wildlife viewing for leisurely sunny afternoons.

Alex is so sweet and wonderful! She took care of our beloved Ollie for two weeks while we were away on vacation, and it gave us so much peace of mind knowing he was in such caring hands. Alex treated Ollie like he was her own and kept us updated throughout our trip with regular messages and adorable photos. I highly recommend Alex to anyone looking for a trustworthy, compassionate, and reliable pet sitter. Your pets will be loved and cared for just like family!

I’ve known Alex for over 25 years, and she’s one of the most mindful and responsible people I know. She treats her cats as true family members and is incredibly attentive to their needs. She naturally anticipates what they need and creates a calm, well cared for environment for them. She’s dependable, detail oriented, and clearly loves animals.

Alex is someone who is in her joy when she is with animals. She is exceptionally good with shy animals such as mixed wolf breeds of dogs, animals with trauma, kitties with major medical challenges. She is kind, gentle but also clear about boundaries and rules with animals in a way that helps them understand what's expected so they feel settled. She is someone with a great sense of duty and so when she agrees to take on a responsibility she does so with a deep commitment and follow through. I have no hesitation in recommending Alexandria as a pet caregiver.

An absolute gem! I couldn’t ask for better care! Finding someone you truly trust with your pets is no small thing, and Alex has earned that trust completely. She cared for both my cat and dog, and it was clear from the start how naturally she connects with animals. She’s warm, patient, and genuinely loving, the kind of person your pets are actually happy to see. What really set her apart was her reliability and attention to detail. She followed every instruction I gave her to the letter, from feeding schedules and medication reminders to little routines my pets are used to. Nothing was overlooked, and I never had to wonder if things were being handled. I came home to two calm, happy, well-cared-for animals, which honestly says it all. I’ll be booking with Alex again without hesitation and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a sitter who treats your pets like her own. 🐾

Calendar and availability

Schedule

I'm around my home most times while I work out of the home. Unique schedules can be easily managed, and special dietary or medical needs tended to. When I have appointments, dogs are welcome with if they love car rides - I have a special back compartment in my SUV with windows on 3 sides to catch all the sites!

Safety, trust & environment

In boarding other peoples pets, I do my best to keep their usual routine to maximize their comfort and minimize stress while mom/dad are away. I have several spaces that can be closed off for isolation if needed for care, sleeping or feeding separately, or they can have the whole house to roam, if that is their preference. I have 2 leashes/tethers (40' or 20') to explore the yard and a box full of toys for chewing, pulling, fetching as needed - or bring your own favorite toys, we'll play with those! If limiting space is ideal, I have a baby gate - we can segregate off the lower level, upper level, kitchen, bedrooms only or whatever configuration works best.

Pets

A typical day

I have a large yard with tall grass and a creek in the back. We can explore all the smells or hang out on the back deck where I have bird feeders and an abundance of wildlife. It's up to my guests what they will enjoy. I have a box full of assorted toys or bring your own favorites for all the comforts of home.

The more info the better for furry 4-legged guests. If you want to summarize their routine, any likes or dislikes, we can keep things as normal as possible. Here are some common inquiries - Food: dry, wet or both? and quantities vs free feeding and what times are preferred? Do we do treats? When or how many? - Bathroom needs: how often should we go out? Do we need back-up pee pads or diapers? What food sensativities could interrupt our digestion? Night time & sleep schedule: do we have a kennel? or what is our preferred sleeping arrangement? Should we be to bed (or awake) by certain times? Activity/entertainment - what games do we like to play & activities do we enjoy? How are they with kids, cats, dogs, strangers? What are they afraid of, or what will set them off? Any habits I should know (good or bad!)? What works best to calm them if they get worked up? And please leave all emergency contact and Vet info.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
