I grew up in the states but have been traveling around the world for the last four years, volunteering in the garden and kitchen at different communities and farms - in 2022, I stumbled upon websites like Rover for petsitting and pet care (what a great idea!). As I have been traveling, it is not easy to have a pet of my own so I thought helping out others with their pets was a great idea. I am also passionate about health & wellness, spirituality, movement, mindfulness, food, travel, photography, connections, hiking, dance, sustainability, and nature. I am currently working on my own business so my schedule is flexible and I am usually able to meet at your requested time; however, if this is not possible, then I would work with you to find the next best time for each of our schedules. NOTE: I am out of the country / state most of the year which is why there are periods of no reviews, but my calendar is up-to-date with when I'm back in the U.S. to care for your pets! I have been actively petsitting outside of Rover while out of the country (35+ completed housesits) and am happy to provide references upon request!

Information Alexandra V. would like to know about your pet
I'd love to have an initial conversation on the phone/FaceTime to get to know each other a little bit further and see if it would be a good fit for the both of us. If it is, then I would be happy to schedule a meet & greet before the walk/drop-in/sit while you are with your pet for an easier transition when you will not be there. It would also be great to know of any specific behaviors about your dog/cat before hand (i.e. medical issues/medication, pulling when seeing other dogs, aggressive/get along with other dogs, jumping up, tendencies, housebroken, neutered/spayed, scared of certain things, favorite toy or treats, favorite place to be scratched/pet, fenced in yard, dog door/cat flap, etc.) I believe understanding the dog as much as possible would be helpful and comfortable for all of us!
A typical day
I love to be out in nature myself so I would love to explore new parks and trails with your dog as long as they are comfortable and up for it! We would have so much fun exploring new places together and rolling around in the grass and playing fetch :) I also love taking pictures in general so I’m sure you’d be receiving lots of pictures and videos of your pet, as long as you’re okay with it too! ;)

Pet care experience
Hello fellow animal lovers - My name is Alexandra (Alex for short). I joined Rover in November '22 and have had pets (a dog, two rabbits, a few parakeets, and frogs!) since I was a child so I am used to watching them while growing up. I also have been watching pets on apps outside of Rover since September '22 and have had over 25 completed house/petsits (anywhere from one night to three weeks, about half of them being at least a week). I also have been watching pets outside of any apps like my sister's Boston Terrier for the last few years in the states and my friends Dachshund a couple weeks in the U.K. One experience that stands out to me was when I was volunteering on a community in Portugal last summer and I came across a really sick sheep so I helped take care him to rehabilitate him back to good health despite people saying that it was not possible. Well, it was totally possible and his health completely turned around after just a week! I was amazed to see his progress in such a short timeframe and happy to see him thriving now with all the updates I get since then.

Alex could not have been a better sitter for my dog! She was interested in learning about Buzz’s personality, likes, dislikes, and schedule. She sent pictures and updates throughout her stay. I was very pleased and will definitely call on Alex again.
Alex sent us wonderful pictures of our pets every day. She kept us informed of everything happening in the house while we were away. In addition the house was very clean and the pets very happy. Would highly recommend Alex!
Alex was wonderful! Such a capable and caring house sitter. Both dogs absolutely loved her immediately and she was very responsive. Would love to have her watch them again. Highly recommend.
