Pet care experience

Vet Student, Pet Pro!

Growing up on a farm means I have an abundance of experience with animals of all shapes and sizes. This experience has only grown thanks to the 1000+ hours spent caring for a great variety of animals thanks to my preparation for and training in veterinary school. I have worked in several veterinary clinics, a couple of shelter settings, and a commercial aviary. This means I am incredibly comfortable caring for all kinds of pets of any age, as well administering medications and keeping up with unique needs. Much of my love for veterinary medicine comes from the opportunity to bond with people and their pets, and providing pet care is another amazing chance to do just that. I would love to serve you and your four-legged family!

Safety, trust & environment

I take great care to keep your pet's routine as similar as possible to their normal to minimize stress. I love to schedule a meet & greet beforehand to get to know you and your pet, and get to know all the details of their routine. I know what questions to ask to make the process as enjoyable and stress free as possible. I also know how nice it is to come back to a clean home. Therefore, when staying in a client's home I take great care to leave everything exactly as it was or better. That way you can relax knowing your pets are well taken care of, and you have nothing to worry about when you return.

Alex did a great job taking care of my dogs, and tending to my older dog’s special needs and medications. She also washed the bedding she used which went above and beyond. I would trust her to take care of them again.

Alex was wonderful! She was an excellent communicator and took great care of the dogs. She managed 2 big high energy dogs with ease and kept us updated. When we returned we didn't expect her to clean the home with such precise detail. the dogs keep looking for her when we got back and we know she gave them love and attention. We would definitely use her again!

Myself and my pack of dogs love Alexandra! It was clear at our meet and greet that the pups were in love with her and bonded immediately. I was able to take my daughter on a 3 night trip with zero stress regarding our dogs for really the first time in years, knowing they were being loved on and in good hands.

Alex was such a wonderful sitter! She did such a great job of keeping us updated on how Eleanor was doing while we were gone. I felt completely at ease having her in our home. She also did a great job keeping our home clean and treating it with respect. I can’t wait to have Alex back to watch Ellie!

Alex was fantastic with our little Finn! She was great, taking him for many walks multiple times a day and sent us photos of their fun activities together. Finn loves when Alex comes to watch him and almost doesn’t seem to notice we’re gone. She’s become our go to for when we’re gone as Finn is a particular individual and Alex loves him all the same. We feel confident and safe leaving him with her which is a great piece of mind when we’re away.

Schedule

Being a student allows for a very flexible schedule, perfect for attentive and personalized pet care! Much of my course work can be done online, so I am often free to hang out with your furry friends while I study throughout the day. I try to build my schedule where I don't need to leave pets alone longer than 6 hours maximum, and I am willing to adjust according to your pet's needs.

Working in veterinary medicine for several years, I have seen it all and know what questions to ask so I can best provide care and avoid any mishaps while caring for your furry friend! Some things I like to know ahead of time include if they like to get into things they're not supposed to (eating things in the yard, the trash, stealing things off the counter and out of suitcases, etc), how they tend to react to other animals and people on walks, what their normal is (occasional hairballs or accidents in the house, super high energy vs more on the sleepy side, etc), any specific behaviors they do to communicate when they want to play/what they want to do, etc.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
