Pet care experience

Post-grad missing my California pup

I grew up in California with a Shih Tzu-poodle mix who I miss so much now that I live in NYC. I’ve always loved being around dogs and getting to know their different personalities. I’ve pet sat for friends and family over the years, and in college I also helped out with foster dogs, which gave me experience with dogs who may need a little extra time to warm up. I’m very comfortable with walks, feeding routines, playtime, basic care, and making pets feel safe and loved while their owners are away.

I am so very happy with my choice to have Alexandra watch my dog! She was so attentive and always kept me updated throughout her stay. I couldn’t have asked for a more reliable pet sitter and will definitely book with Alex again!!

Alex has such a special way with animals! They naturally gravitate toward her, and she always treats them with such love, care, and appreciation. I would recommend Alex to anyone looking for a top-tier animal lover!

We got regular photo updates, great communication, and could tell our dog was happy and well cared for the entire time. They were attentive to our dog’s routine and made us feel completely at ease while we were away. We’d absolutely book again!

Alex was great with my dog! She took her on nice long walks. Suki absolutely loves her and is always excited to see her! Would definitely hire again.

Schedule

I work in tech sales at an AI startup, and I live in a studio apartment in an elevator building close to work. My schedule is fairly flexible, especially because I’m nearby and can often work around walks, drop-ins, or care needs. I’ve been living in NYC for a little over a year, and since I miss having my family dog around, pet care is something I’d genuinely love to build into my routine. I’m happy to coordinate around your pet’s normal schedule and keep things consistent for them.

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a clean, calm studio apartment in an elevator building, which makes getting in and out easy for walks and potty breaks. I’m very mindful about keeping pets safe, comfortable, and supervised, especially in a city environment. I’d follow any instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walk routines, medication needs, crate preferences, and house rules. Since I’ve helped with foster dogs before, I understand that every dog has different comfort levels, and I’m patient with pets who may be shy, anxious, or adjusting to a new space. I’d also keep you updated with messages and photos so you always know how your dog is doing.

A typical day

A typical day would include walks, playtime, and downtime based on your dog’s routine and energy level. I love getting outside and would be happy to take your pup on neighborhood walks, give them time to sniff and explore, and make sure they feel cared for and comfortable. Since I have a flexible schedule and live close to work, I can easily build pet care into my day.

I’d love to know your dog’s normal routine so I can keep things consistent. Helpful details include feeding and walk schedules, energy level, allergies or medications, how they are around other dogs or people, and any anxiety, triggers, or special habits. I’d also love to know their favorite toys, treats, and commands.
