I'm currently an unemployed scientist waiting for the NIH to be funded again so my schedule during the day is wide open. I have some responsibilities in the evening that can last a few hours but can still attend to pets as needed.

As I have a reactive dog at home I won't be able to house pets at my home but can come to your house and care for your pets. Your pets safety and well-being are incredibly important to me. This includes stress levels and other emotional issues. While taking care of your pets I will work to ensure their comfort and reduce their stress while you are away.
Information Alexander W. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your pets have any medications that I will need to administer, as well as the administration route. That way I can confirm my ability to provide care for your pet and we can all have a good experience.
A typical day
I love giving pets a fulfilling experience and will do my utmost to make sure your pets will have a mentally stimulating as well as physically engaging time. On a walk I like to give dogs their time to sniff, as that has been shown to have a positive effect on dogs well-being, as well as tire them out, either through games or chasing after ball.

Pet care experience
I have had and been around dogs since I was about 5 years old and have loved every second of it. Animals have always held a special place in my heart and I couldn't imagine my life without them. I started taking care of our family pets once I was a teenager and over a year ago I adopted my dog, Bumi, from Seattle Humane. Bumi turned out to be highly reactive and since adopting him I have worked extensively with a trainer and become very familiar with reactive dogs and can handle them well, provided they have some level of training. I have also looked after cats from my friends and acquaintances and have never had a negative experience aside from the occasional ankle swipe or warning bite, as cats are want to do. After working with my reactive dog I have become very sensitive to animals body language and know when to back off. While cats body language is quite different from a dogs I have plenty of experience and know when a cat does not want to be approached. I've loved every single dog and cat I have come across and would love to provide excellent care for your pets.

Reviews
Alex took excellent care of our dogs, Bandit and Dusti, while we were away on vacation for a week. He was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared about their well-being. We appreciated the updates and the peace of mind knowing they were in good hands. Bandit and Dusti were happy and well cared for when we returned home. We would gladly book with Alex again and highly recommend him to other pet owners.
I highly recommend Alex as a pet caregiver because he is compassionate and trustworthy. He has a special ability to win over even the most skittish animals, and he never passes up an opportunity to meet a dog or cat in the vicinity. Alex approaches every scenario with patience and a calm demeanor; he has spent countless hours working with and training reactive dogs. I fully endorse him as an animal caretaker.
Alex has known my dog Rhea since the beginning of her adoption, when she was a much more challenging dog to take care of than she is now. For a long time he was the only person I trusted to help with watching her and taking her on walks. She can still be a handful at times but Alex has always been patient with her and responsive to her particular triggers and needs. And in return Rhea loves him like he’s one of her own. He’s super reliable, responsible, has a lifetime of experience with animals, and absolutely adores dogs.
