Pet care experience

Laid back animal caretaker

I grew up with dogs and a bird in my home. I took care of neighborhood pets including ferrets, cats, and frogs, and have been caring for animals for my whole life.

Al has such a calming aura and a deep understanding of dogs. He is an incredible dog dad to a well trained pup who was a scared little doggo when he adopted her from the shelter, but she is now an incredible companion whose personality has blossomed under his care. Al isn't just great with dogs - he's great with cats and rabbits too! He has petsat for my rabbit several times and I always know she's in good hands with him.

Al is our go-to pet sitter for our cat Espresso Bean. He's a pro at taking care of feeding (and our cat's feeding routine is not so simple) and litterbox cleaning. He also makes sure to keep Bean company while we're away by playing with her, and he sends us updates when we're away on long trips missing our cat. Can't recommend him enough!

Schedule

I currently have a flexible schedule, so I'm happy to take care of animals during the day and in the evenings on weekdays. I take care of my dog Juniper every day as well, but she is comfortable on her own, in case I need to leave her at home and care for another pet.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a 15ish pound chihuahua mix (Juniper) that gets along well with other dogs. We have a decent sized yard, with a section of that fenced in. We live right next to a small hiking trail, and Juniper and I will walk up on there every day unless the rain makes it too muddy to climb. If your dog is an outdoorsy type and likes horses, (we live right by a ranch) we'll have a nice time taking the trail. We also have several rooms in the house and can section off dogs as needed.

Pets

A typical day

Not all pets are the same; so getting to know their personalities and making them feel comfortable is very important to me. Some like to play, and others prefer a relaxing lounge in their favorite spot. I usually like to take dogs walks in the park, or on a short hike if they’re up to it. It’s great to give them a chance to walk around somewhere beautiful, and full of exciting things to sniff.

It’s always good to know what special requirements a pet may have. Dietary restrictions, favorite snacks, or favorite spots to hang out (at home or otherwise) are always good to know. I’ve taken care of senior dogs post back surgery, who have had trouble walking. It was important to know this when caring for them, so I could limit their movement to a vet-recommended amount.
