I think it’s really important to know their daily routine so I can keep things familiar for them, like feeding times, walks, and bedtime habits. I also always ask about any medical needs, allergies, or medications just in case something comes up. It’s helpful to know their personality too—like if they’re super friendly, shy, anxious, or have any triggers so I can handle them the right way. I like to ask what they enjoy most, like certain toys or games, so I can keep them happy and comfortable while their owner is away.
A typical day
I like to keep them active and engaged with simple but fun activities that match their energy level. A big part of the day is going on “sniff walks,” where I let them take their time exploring and smelling everything, since that’s mentally stimulating for them. I’ll also play games like fetch with a ball or frisbee, or even hide toys and have them find them to make it more interesting. If the dog is into training, I’ll work on basic tricks like sit, paw, spin, or touch using treats to keep it positive and rewarding. Some dogs really enjoy tug-of-war or short bursts of backyard play, which helps burn energy in a fun way.

Alexa was wonderful with Rocky and Laika. She was available with short notice and treated them so well. She communicated incredibly well and was very respectful of our space. I would have her come back and help out with the dogs any time.
Alexa was absolutely wonderful! She took the time to meet our babies beforehand since they can be a little extra at times, and they immediately felt comfortable and at ease with her. She kept us updated with several pictures, and her communication throughout was excellent. Most importantly, our babies were truly loved and cared for while we were away. We also just moved into a new home from out of state, and many of our belongings — including our couch — still haven’t arrived. We always want our sitters to feel as comfortable as possible, and Alexa was incredibly understanding and kind about our situation, which gave me such peace of mind. I would absolutely recommend Alexa, and I know our babies will be in great hands when we book with her again!
