Information Alexa D. would like to know about your pet
The safety of the pets in my care is my top priority! Please let me know if your pet feels unsafe in any situation so I can be mindful to avoid that scenario. Pets are crated when they cannot be supervised. Pets are separated during mealtimes and treat times to avoid scuffles. Please be honest with me about your pets needs and quirks. Honesty is NOT punished in this house. I have experience working in dog hotels and dog training facilities and have seen it all, please don’t be shy about your pets needs.
A typical day
Dogs get walked twice a day, on really hot/sunny or rainy days, dogs are given enrichment and taught to use the treadmill. I do midday enrichment time where dogs are given owner provided chews or puzzle toys. Later in the afternoon I’ll do a playgroup for dog-safe guests that are happy to mingle and play with other dogs. For guests that would rather skip play time, they get plenty or 1 on 1 attention and snuggles.

Pet care experience
I have always had a passion for animal caretaking and my love for animals really took off after studying Animal Science at UC Davis. I started off with very basic dog walking which eventually snowballed into dog training. From there I’ve worked at pet hotels, dog training facilities, and fostered for many rescues. I am currently an active foster for BASH, Welcome Home Sanctuary, and Nine Lives here in the Bay Area. My goal is to create the most home-like experience for your pet while you are away, while prioritizing the safety and comfort of your pet. I keep a quiet home to help shy/nervous/anxious pets acclimate and also provide playtimes and owner-brought enrichments for our more rambunctious guests. Pets are allowed on furniture (given they are allowed on furniture at home) and are treated like family. I am comfortable taking pets of all ages with no major illness. I am comfortable administering medications, accommodating special diets, and separating pets that need extra space. I cannot wait to meet your best friend!

Reviews

Alexa is amazing and took amazing care of Meru!!!! I would highly recommend! She is an amazing dog sitter and has a space that is totally dialed for your furry friend!

Alexa was spectacular and our dog came home happy! Alexa has a great setup at her home to take care of dogs and provide them a great experience. She updated us throughout our dog’s stay with her. We highly recommend Alexa!

Cali loved her overnight boarding time with Alexa D. This was my first time as a Dog Mom using Rover and Alexa made me feel totally at ease leaving my high energy pup with her. She was an attentive communicator and patient with all of my questions. We had a meet and greet beforehand where we shared information and anything noteworthy about Cali. Alexa's knowledge of dogs, her experience, and all of the ways she cares for them were impressive. Thank you Alexa for taking such care of my baby girl!

Alexa took wonderful care of Mugsy! Before our stay she made time for a meet and greet to ensure it was a good fit. She was very communicative throughout the process and Mugsy’s stay with her. We got lots of pictures and updates which gave us peace of mind. Mugsy came home a happy dog!
