Pet care experience

Vet student keeping pets safe!

Hello! I am looking to help your pets stay healthy and happy while you are gone. I am a second year veterinary medical student with an undergraduate double major in animal and equine science. I have been around dogs and cats my entire life, and have lived with all sizes of animals, from the little guys to the Great Danes (I LOVE the big dogs and XL breeds!) I love everything about dogs and cats, and I am comfortable caring for all types of dog/cat personalizes and sizes! During high school I worked as a kennel assistant in a vet clinic, as well as working for a dog boarding facility in college. I am knowledgeable with common medical issues in dogs, such as preventing bloat in large breed dogs and airway emergencies in small, flat faced breeds. Thank you for considering me, I would love to meet some new furry friends and to keep your pets healthy, happy, and safe while you are gone! Side note: I also offer farm, equine, and cattle care, although prices may differ.

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

In my clients home I try to help the pet be as calm and comfortable as possible. I try to stick to their schedule as much as I am able to as well! Before house sitting for the first time I like to make sure I know where all the first aid supplies are for the pet (and humans) and what I might need to bring along, so there are supplies in case of any emergency. In general, I try to cause as little disrupt to the pets schedule as possible so they are not stressed or sad when owners leave!

We had a wonderful vacation knowing that Alex was staying with our one dog, two cats, and chickens! Our older dog, who we were worried about leaving, did well and Alex took excellent care of her. Alex was incredibly attentive to all of our animals. We would recommend Alex 100%!

Alex was awesome! She sent constant updates and pictures and went above and beyond in everything! We have four pets, with four very different needs and she handled it seamlessly!

Alex was able to help out last minute and clearly communicated her schedule prior to booking. She sent great updates and pictures and left my apartment perfectly clean! I’d trust her with my cat any day!

Schedule

I am currently a full time student in classes for a few hours at a time 8 am to 4 pm, but I have an hour during lunch to come back and let dogs out if needed! However, I’m absolutely willing to spend the rest of the day with them and overnights.

Cats
0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
41 to 100 lbs
over 101 lbs
Alex can host up to 2 drop-ins per day
I like to know allergies (if they have any), health concerns, medication, and typical schedule for a dog, as well as any training cues or commands the dog has! I also like to know any quirks or odd behaviors that are normal for them, any behavioral issues or reactivity, be it people or dogs or environment. I like to know what their favorite, high reward treats are, and anything they might dislike or things that they are scared of or stressful. These things all help me to know normal, because I want to be able to catch abnormal things, as well as providing them with the best care possible.
