Pet care experience
Very-Important-Pup care 🐾
I’m here to care for your VIP! I provide attentive, structured, and compassionate care tailored to your dog’s unique personality and needs. My approach is rooted in connection and understanding. Through my work with dogs and horses, I’ve learned to truly listen to animals and respond thoughtfully. I’m especially comfortable with shy or anxious dogs who need patience and gentle confidence-building, as well as bright pups who thrive with mental enrichment and purposeful engagement. Caring for my soul dog, Milo, into his senior years also gave me hands-on experience with medications, special routines, and the gentle art of supporting aging pets. I volunteer at Oregon Humane, where I work with a wide variety of dogs and continue expanding my knowledge of canine body language, behavior, and the full range of personalities. I’m also certified in R+ (positive reinforcement) dog training so I am happy to incorporate light training and tricks into your pup’s stay. My home is shared with my husband and best suited for solo dogs who enjoy a low-key environment. I can also help with reactive pups who need to avoid interactions on walks or need low traffic environments. While I don’t have size restrictions, I’m not the best match for hefty pups that struggle with reactivity or caring for multiple highly energetic large pups at once. Let's chat and see if we're a fit!

Ratings and reviews
Alex took perfect care of Toby. She was responsive, took a lot of great photos, and Toby seemed nice and relaxed. Couldn’t recommend more.

Alex was incredible with our precious lil guy. We felt immediately at ease leaving him with her, she seemed genuinely excited to spend time chilling with him while we were out during the day. Alex sent us updates and photos throughout the day and it seemed like Toby had a great time at her place napping and exploring the yard. In his old age he gets a little bit restless in the evening, but when we got there to pick him up Alex had just finished playing a dinner hide and seek game with him that seemed to get him excited and distracted. We would definitely feel comfortable leaving Toby with Alex again, and highly recommend her!

Alex did a fantastic job walking Toby. She was super responsive, timely, mindful of the temperature and took great pics!

We would use Alex anytime!

Alex is AWESOME. She took incredibly good care of our two doggos. She was super communicative and she left the house virtually spotless. Will absolutely be asking Alex to hang with our pups again!

Alex took such great care of Olive. I didn’t have to worry about her at all, which says everything. So grateful to have found someone so reliable and kind.

Calendar and availability
Schedule
I work from home so my availability is flexible and generous and I can spend the majority of the day with your pup. I do step out for up to 3 hours on most days to care for my mare, so pups should be comfortable alone for that window.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
My home has a fully fenced yard with plenty of grassy space for play, and I live in a quiet, walkable neighborhood just a few blocks from Pier Park. When your dog stays with me, they’ll have free rein of the house, lots of supervised backyard time, and a cozy bed in my office if they feel like being my work buddy. I live with my husband, but no other people or animals at the house while your pup is here. If I’m caring for your pup at your home, I’m happy to set up a remote office (just need wifi access) and spend the day on their turf, keeping them company in their own space.
A typical day
I tailor each day to your dog’s needs, preferences, and energy level. That might mean long active walks or short, gentle strolls, pup cup runs to the coffee shop, or visits to the local biscuit station. We might jog around the park, relax on a blanket, explore new neighborhoods, or even head out for a Forest Park hike if your pup’s up for it (and the human gives permission). At home, we’ve got plenty of fun too—backyard soccer, fetch, or frisbee, enrichment games, puzzle toys, cuddle sessions, belly rubs, and even “talent shows” to learn new tricks. Whatever makes your dog happy, that’s the plan.
