- AVAILABILITY - I work remote full time, M-F from 9-6 ish. Check out When Alex Watches Your Pet for a more detailed schedule of a normal day! - PICK UP & DROP OFF- > Prefer 8:30 - 9 am drop off window & 5:30 - 6:30 pick up window > Flexible if discussed ahead, esp with later pick ups. - MEET & GREET - > Require a free 30 min meet & greet ahead of time to make sure they get along > If we can't schedule ahead, we can do same day as long as: 1. You can stay for 30 mins before you drop off to ensure that they get along before you leave. I prefer to do this before 9 am. 2. You accept the risk that they may not get along and you may not be able to leave your dog with me so I will have to cancel day of.* *FWIW, my dog rarely has issues with other adult dogs. Occasionally the combo of sharp puppy teeth and puppy energy is too much for him if they are small enough to get into his hiding spots, but that's mostly it. I would only turn pets away if it feels like a safety issue for either of our animals, or a noise issue for my work & neighbors.

- MY HOME - > Live by myself in a 1 bedroom apartment > Dog friendly building in Boerum Hill > Quiet street, building, & apartment for nervous Nelly's - I’m on the top floor so no scary upstairs neighbor noises! > Please note, I have recently moved and am no longer first floor and do not have elevator access. I’m in a fourth floor walk up and am happy to carry smaller pups that might need help up stairs. > Dogs allowed on all furniture + multiple doggie beds > Lidded trash cans behind closed doors - no accessible food - COMMUNICATION - > Happy to send updates and pictures - peep my pet's bio for photos of him with fosters and friends > I will try to get any questions for the day answered at drop off and will try to be available via text within 30 mins of contact throughout the day. - WHAT TO BRING - > Food & treats > A non retractable leash* & any other walk gear you may need (harnesses, treat bags, gentle leaders, muzzles etc.) *For safety reasons I do not allow retractable leashes. I can provide a regular leash if you don't have one. > Something that makes your dog feel at home (for the first few visits so they can feel safe like a bed, toy, or even a shirt you've worn works) - SAFETY - I'm happy to discuss these further with you but want to give an idea of my philosophy: Collar, leash, & walks > Collars will be on at all times > No off leash outside of my apartment *Unless the area is fenced in and you've consented to it > No greeting other dogs on walks > Avoid busier / louder streets like Fulton, Atlantic etc. Feeding > Pets are separated at meal time > No food will be left out after meals > I will only feed treats and food that you bring me Leaving pets home alone > No dogs left alone in without your prior consent > Overnight guests need to be able to be crated quietly when I leave the apartment > Dogs will be separated when left alone People & other pets (Some pets struggle with new people and new pets) > No human or additional pet guests without prior consent > Guests will not walk, feed, or bathe your pet

- BEHAVIORAL CHALLENGES - These are not an automatic dealbreaker, I ask as a safety precaution. Honesty is really important in making sure that I can create the safest and least stressful environment for all of us. I've fostered and watched dogs with all kinds of quirks and recognize that no dog is perfect and am open to working with you and your pet if they have behavioral challenges. Some of my favorite fosters had possessiveness issues of their human, resource guarding, and fear of thunder/men/bikes/hats etc. I recognize that lots of good dogs struggle with certain things in their environment that need to be managed so they can be their best selves. Let's make sure we communicate so that we can do our best to prevent issues. - MEDICATIONS & CONDITIONS - Between my dog's journey to health after rescue and my medical fosters, I'm comfortable with meds and management. If you need meds or special care let's make sure we discuss. - ALLERGIES & FOOD - Does your dog have any food allergies? Do they have resource guarding challenges? Are they on a strict diet or eating schedule? Will they be eating a meal here? How & when do they like their food? Please bring any treats you give them to drop off. I reward my dog during the day and it's nice to have approved snacks for yours, too. If interested in puzzle toys, please bring some of their dry food. If we're doing lick mats I can provide the peanut butter or you can bring me some of their wet food. - COMMUNICATION - What are some of your dog's behaviors I should be aware of / what do they mean? How does your pet communicate it has to go out, is nervous, doesn't feel well, wants to be left alone etc? - SCHEDULE & CONSISTENCY - Dogs love routine because predictability makes them feel safe. What is your dog's routine like? Do they have certain toys or activities they like at home? Telling me means I can do my best to provide something similar to make them feel at home.

- A TYPICAL DAY- > 8:30 - 9 am: Drop off > 11 am: Big walk (30 ish mins) > Noon: Naps in the sun > 2 pm: quick potty break > 3 pm: zoomies & play time (this is my dog's wild man play time hour) > 5:30 pm: Big walk to Fort Greene Park (30+ mins depending on pick up) > 6 pm: Bruce's dinner / maybe your dog's dinner / pick up

***Please note for safety reasons, ALL overnight guests MUST be hard sided crate trained for when I have to leave the apartment. No exceptions. Please do not request to board if your pet is not crate trained and you cannot provide a hard sided crate (ie NO fabric crates). Alex is very caring and communicative. She really wanted Lily to be comfortable and relaxed in her home. After some bad experiences in the past, it was very refreshing to know our dog was in loving, experienced hands while we were traveling far away. We hope to use her again the next time we go away!
Alex was so lovely and communicative. My dog was having a bit of anxiety and she knew how to handle his behavior well and keep him comfortable! She has a lot of experience with shelter dogs and her own, I highly recommend her to anyone!
Alex is very thoughtful and careful, which is especially important since Phoebe can be reactive in new situations. She clearly understands that dogs can respond in different ways and takes the time to make sure they feel safe. Before the booking, Alex arranged a responsible meet and greet, which gave us peace of mind that everyone would get along. Throughout the stay, Phoebe was well cared for and had a good weekend. We felt completely comfortable leaving Phoebe with Alex and would absolutely book with her again!
Alex is an excellent dog sitter! She paid close attention to every detail, kept us updated throughout, and was incredibly kind and easy to communicate with. Her dog Bruce is also the sweetest. Highly recommend her services!
