It would fit into my daily routine seamlessly! I currently work from home so my days are my own. I don’t have to report to an office and my freelance work (I provide video production, editing, motion graphics and audio engineering services when I’m not working with dogs for a number of clients in and out of state), allows me the freedom to choose my hours and stay at home.

First off, I am first aid Canine and Feline American Red Cross certified in case anything happens to your family member. Secondly, It all depends on the needs of your pet! If you have a smaller dog, they’ll have to go out for potty’s more often. If they’re energetic then lots of walks/runs and playtime in the backyard. If they have abandonment issues they’ll have to sleep in the bedroom or somewhere close where they can see us and know we’re here. If they’re reactive or sensitive to stimuli, whether that’s loud noises or another pet/animal or quick movements then it’s a quiet, calm and safe environment they’ll need to make strides in daily training exercise; every cat or dog is different and has different needs. They might have medication that needs to be administered at certain times of the day or they have mobility issues, it all depends on the needs of your pet and what they need to feel safe and comfortable!

Information Alex K. would like to know about your pet
Oh yes, the more information the better! What kind of training have they had, are they ok with other dogs, strangers, etc. What time or day do they usually eat, are they high or low energy, do they have any behavioral issues, anything that frightens them/makes them feel unsafe, are they reactive on leash? Off leash? do’s, dont’s, preferences, personality, again, the more I know the better and the easier it will be for me to tailor our time together to fit their needs and give them the best experience I possibly can.
A typical day
This depends on the dog of course, but typically a walk on leash to a park with lots of loves, pets and of course treats for good behavior, would be first up with rehydration along our route and some cool down time and refueling once puppers has expended some energy. If our lil friend is tired then we head back home to chill, we can always explore more a little later. Lots of potty and sniff breaks of course. If the owner wants to work on some behavioral issues or commands then we’ll incorporate that into our timeline/day with, again, plenty of (owner approved), treats!! I always carry water, treats and some kibbie when we’re exploring. I like to hit the Quintara stairs since it’s close to my house which leads to some small trails and the golden gate heights park. If we’re caring for a senior boy or a wee one then a brisk walk around the neighborhood or a drive to the park may be in order. It just depends on age, mobility, energy level, likes, dislikes, his/her preferences, etc. bottom like it should be a fun/comfortable and positive experience for our furry friend.

Certified canine trainer
Pet care experience
Hello! My name is Alex and am I certified non-aversive, positive reinforcement dog trainer from (and still currently residing in), beautiful Santa Cruz, California. I ran my own canine training, boarding and day care in San Francisco (Golden Gate Good Boys LLC), for the last two years but I am starting over again, where I started as I have moved back home away from my clients in the city. I grew up with family cats and dogs and when I was in college I volunteered at shelters (Maxfund in Denver), and trained/fostered some of our senior citizens and more challenging residents (2 of which I ended up adopting: a blind and toothless pug named O and an elderly german shepherd). Many of the dogs we cared for had aggression issues, little to no training, no confidence and were fearful of people but we never gave up on them and as a result the vast majority of our dogs were adopted into their forever homes (Maxfund is a no kill shelter). At the end of the day I am above all else an animal lover at my core and since I moved back to Santa Cruz, unfortunately it was no longer making financial sense driving up to SF 5 days a week for my clients since the move. It would be my absolute pleasure to host your good boy or girl whether that’s a play date, a walk, day care, in-home boarding/house-sitting or training through my website. I am American Red Cross Canine and Feline First Aid certified as well!
Reviews

Alex is fantastic! He is walking my dog Maggie, an 80lb lab mix, twice a week. Always on time and so great with the pup! Thank you Alex!

Alex is a wonderful dog walker! He clearly *loves* dogs. He helped me out when I was in a bind, to take my dog out during the day for one week. He sent me pictures of my dog having an absolutely amazing time. My dog took to him right away. He was also super responsive. Highly recommend!

Alex is very responsive and flexible in coordinating dog walks for our hyper Portuguese water dog pup. Was great, scheduling meet and greet last minute before we needed him in a pinch for coverage while we were out of town. So glad we were able to find him to care for our pup. We are grateful to work with him!
Thanks Alex! Caia was happy and exhausted when she came home!
