I'm an equestrian of 15 years and I currently only have one cat (sad, I know - working on improving that number, haha). I previously worked for a dog walking and pet care company, servicing areas from Centreville VA to Haymarket VA. I have now been providing pet care professionally for over 5 years in Gainesville, VA; Inwood, WV; Tulsa, OK; Manassas, VA; Alexandria-Arlington, VA; and now Woburn, MA - I'm well-travelled and well-versed in all manner of pets from all manner of places! While this may be a fun job, it is still a JOB and I do treat it as such. I strive to be professional, reliable, and communicative through all bookings no matter how short or long the stay. I'm very experienced with caring for many types of animals including, but not limited to, birds, dogs, cats, fish, and lizards. I'm well-versed in dealing with administering medications and dealing with special needs. I treat every pet as if they were my own. I am certified in emergency first aid care for animals through the Red Cross. I am also certified in emergency and preventative care through Melanie Monteiro; more on that is included towards the bottom of my profile. I'm looking forward to meeting your furry, scaly, and feathery friends!

Safety, trust & environment
Safety is of the utmost importance to me, and that works both ways— your pet’s safety as well as my own physical safety. I truly strive for your pet to never experience any loneliness or separation anxiety which is why I do try my best to minimize time spent away from them during a house sitting and do not book multiple overnight clients at one time. During drop-in visits and walks, I am always right there supervising (even if you have a fenced backyard for dogs!) to ensure all animals are accounted for and safe. I pride myself on being very observant at any booking I do and I’m especially watchful of any pets that are on medications, young puppies, or seniors. I am animal CPR and first aid certified.

My first time using rover as a pet owner and I am so lucky to have found Alex! I am a crazy cat mom and she went over and above to make me feel comfortable with leaving my baby alone with a “stranger” for the first time. She is so kind, sent loads of updates, and is incredibly professional. I looked for weeks on rover to find the right person and I’m so glad I found her. Cat parents, alex is for you!
Alex is a fantastic sitter - highly recommend! Communicative, kind, low-maintenance, great with cats; overall a wonderful experience, as her reassuring updates (with photos) on our cats gave us peace of mind while traveling.
Alex is hands down one of the best petsitters we have ever had. She is thorough, detail-oriented, responsive, sends the best pics, and treats your dogs as if they are her own. My doodles were the happiest I have ever seen them while we were away. 11/10, highly recommend for your next trip away from your fluffy ones.

Schedule
I am a full-time online grad student, so I can work comfortably from your home while caring for your pets. I also work a part-time job in DC that requires me to be away upwards of 6 hours a day including commute time, 4 days a week. Because of this, I typically do not accept requests for animals who cannot be left alone for 6-8 hours. Please feel free to ask about my availability when booking - I'm happy to coordinate and still offer flexible scheduling for drop-ins and walks.
