I'm a full time case manager and spend a lot of my "spare" time volunteering at one or more of the shelters across the city. I'm flexible in my scheduling with pups and can flex a lot of my work schedule around your pup's routine - however, there are some fixed times when I must be out of the home. Most of my services are offered Friday thru Monday, and I'm happy to accommodate shift work - especially overnight shift workers! Please let me know if you need 10pm-6am services.

I have been a trainer for several years. Over that time, I have learned and developed a style of communication with the pups in my care to ensure they have the space they need to feel safe whether that means we just do our own thing in your home together or we snuggle up tightly on the couch under a blanket! Every pet has different boundaries, and respecting those boundaries helps an animal feel safe in their homes.

It helps me a ton to know what kinds of activities your pup likes as well as any allergies or medical needs he or she may have. I have experience and am able to give oral, rectal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications as needed. Topical medication and basic wound care are within my realm of experience and comfort as well.
A typical day
I love to be outside as much as possible! If your pup is accustomed to daily walks or has other exercise needs, please be sure to let me know ahead of time, and I can make sure that they are accommodated! ***Doggie daycare is available on holidays only and is geared towards hiking/playing at the park/getting out of the house for full and half days. At this time, I can only accept dog-friendly dogs as my dog comes on those trips as well. Thank you!***

I have over 25 years of personal and 15 years of professional dog experience including working in a doggie daycare, as a professional walker, and as a trainer including working with police and rescue dogs, sled dogs, working farm dogs, service dogs, and companion dogs. I also have cat, large mammal/farm, and exotics experience and am extremely comfortable in their care and enrichment including associated feeding. I am happy to work with pups with behavioral needs. I work using distraction techniques, praise and treat rewards, redirection, modeling, and alternative behavior. I can also work with dogs with medical needs including providing medication while you are away. Please let me know if your pup has a scheduled veterinary visit while you are away so I can make sure I can accommodate the appointment. I am Pet CPR & First Aid Certified. I believe dogs are part of the family, and while you're away whether for vacation or work, you deserve the peace of mind knowing your pup is every bit loved and cared for as if you were still home. New clients, please reach out in advance so we can schedule a meet and greet to ensure my routine is the best fit for your buddies!

Alex is an INCREDIBLE cat sitter who goes above and beyond to care for animals. When moving from Florida to Alaska I needed someone to watch my kitties for 2 weeks and was nervous about finding someone to reliably provide quality care for two of my cats who have medical needs. I was so pleased with Alex's care for my babies and felt immensely fortunate to have her as a sitter during the move. She was able to administer my diabetic cat's insulin and liquid medication for my cat with allergies. She also when above and beyond to grab the insulin from the pharmacy when I was unable to during my drive to Anchorage. All of her updates about the cats were detailed and helpful to keep track of how they were doing. She gave them lots of love and even extra treats which I'm sure they were excited for. Alex even offered to give one of my cats a bath to help manage his allergies. I cannot recommend Alex enough! I am happy to have found a great sitter in Anchorage :)
