Pet care experience

One dog per night, big yard!!

I currently only take one dog (family) per night! (And I do not have any housepets of my own.) This makes for a relaxed environment that we all enjoy. I have always loved animals, and I have had a variety of pets over the years from dogs to cats and more. I have no dogs or cats at the moment. Dogs love my yard!!! Come for a meet and greet! - Highlights: Lots of time with a family! Calm and present adult to care for your pooch! Lots of pets and cuddles (if your dog consents)! Two animal-loving teens who are great with dogs! Lots of time outside throughout the day! Access to a comfortable dog friendly home! Please read my whole profile for all the details and to see if we will be a great fit :) - **I CAN accomodate more than one dog from the same family!! (and cat siblings in some circumstances!) Message me if this applies.** - **Doggie Daycare available as well, please message me if this applies.**

The absolute best sitter ever!!! Tried many on Rover but Allegra tops them all. She and her family were so sweet to my shy and difficult furbaby. Plenty of updates, photos, detailed questions on particulars, I knew exactly what was happening daily. If there was a problem I knew about it and was consulted if things were going great I knew that too. Allegra is my dream sitter and for once I had a worry-free vacation.

Repeat customer here-Alegra is wonderful! My pup started wagging her tail as soon as we stepped on the porch. My dog is older and has some problems but Alegra is so patient and understanding with her. I get updates and pictures at least daily which I love. Highly recommend Alegra!

Schedule

I love to spend time in our yard with the garden, and of course our visiting dogs. I work from home. My kids also homeschool, so we are all here a lot. My kids love animals, and we love to welcome your critters into our home. We like to welcome our doggy guests like a member of the family for their stay with us. - I love the cuddlers, and we let the dogs on the furniture with us (but don't have to if you prefer otherwise). Expect a lot of silly baby talk for your dog, and probably a few impersonations of what the dog is thinking from the kids LOL - I am frequently home the majority of the day and only leaving for 2-3 hours at a time. However, I cannot guarantee that I will not sometimes be gone longer. Typically the longest I would be gone would be 5-6 hours; this usually happens 1-2 times per week. Once a month or so, I will be gone for up to 8 hours, but I will never be gone more than 8 hours when I have a dog staying with me. While I am very often home the majority of the day, I can not offer "24 hour care."

Safety, trust & environment

I board / pet sit in my home. I have a 6-ft fence around my backyard. There is one section that measures closer to 5 ft. For VERY small dogs, there are a few squirrel/rabbit holes under the fence. I don't leave dogs unattended in the yard; I do leave the backdoor open when I'm home (in the kitchen or office, which both have doors to the backyard), so they can come in and out. - I always do a meet and greet before having a dog stay. Dogs must be up to date on vaccines and flea/tick medication. - I have a variety of dog toys and a dog bed, water bowl, and food bowl, but you can also bring your own. - I only host one dog (or dog family) per night, And I don't have a dog of my own, so there is no worry about how they will get along. - I also like to tell you any little thing that might be relevant. I will tell you whether your dog is eating less than normal (very common), whether they're pooping or peeing less than expected or if it looks off, whether they have an accident inside (sometimes how they communicate), whether they simply seem a little worried, or whatever I notice. And of course, I'll tell you when they are cuddling up, being cute, or doing something funny!! I'm highly attuned to dogs' behavior/communication, and I like to keep pet parents in the loop. - I try to send two pictures a day minimum, but I usually will send more than that, anytime your pooch is doing something adorable :)

A typical day

I absolutely love to hang out with dogs all day! I like to take them in the yard when I am tending to the garden, or even just running some veggies scraps out to the compost. We typically spend a lot of time in and out of the backyard all day. - I like to invite the dogs onto the sofa while the family watches TV or the dog bed while I am working in my office. I like to take them for walks. Basically, I like it when the dogs follow me around haha, but it's also ok if they prefer to have their space!! - I also love to play in the big yard with the puppers, so feel free to bring your dog's favorite toy! - I can guarantee one neighborhood walk per day (and often give the dogs two or even three neighborhood walks per day - I find it's a great motivation to get some fresh air and movement). If your dog requires more than one neighborhood walk per day, please bring this up in a message so it can be properly accounted for with the level of care in the booking. I typically avoid other neighborhood dogs on our walks, just because I do get a lot of sensitive dogs, so it's my habit.

I always do a meet and greet with our dog visitors. Otherwise, I like to learn as much as I can about the dogs who are staying with me so that I can make them as comfortable as possible. Just let me know how your dog communicates and what the habits and quirks are, so I can keep your pooch comfy. - It's also very important that you let me know if your dog has a tendency to dig! Diggers are welcome, but their access to the yard will be restricted, as they will need to be monitored, so they will be in the house with us more. - If your dog is notably hard of hearing or sight, significantly limited in mobility, or has difficulty controlling their bladder, they will likely be most comfortable in their own home. If any of these apply, let's discuss and see if it still makes sense for a stay. - I can't accept dogs with a history of biting or aggressive behavior towards humans, for safety reasons. Dog reactive is ok because they won't be around other dogs; talk to me about the intensity in regards to walks. - **All dogs must be up to date on vaccines and flea/tick meds.** **No dogs with a bite history or aggression towards people.** **Dogs must be at least 2 years old.** **If your dog can't occasionally go 6-8 hours without a potty break, I may still be able to provide care, but we will need to look at the exact dates so I can check my schedule to see how long I might be gone.**
