Private 1:1 Dog Boarding

I offer individualized dog boarding for one household at a time. If you have multiple dogs, I’m happy to welcome them together, but I never mix dogs from separate families. This allows me to provide calm, focused care in a safe and peaceful home where your dog can truly settle in. I’m intuitive, attentive, and genuinely enjoy the presence of dogs. I pay close attention to their personalities, sensitivities, routines, and individual ways of communicating. I’m an architect, engineer, and artist, and I work for myself from home, which means I’m around and able to give the dogs staying with me plenty of attention and companionship. I genuinely love having dogs around and enjoy the quiet companionship they bring to my home and daily life. I own a sunlit Victorian in West Oakland that I bought a few years ago. The house is bright, open, quiet, and comfortable, with good airflow and a clean, simple layout. There are no roommates and no other pets. About the Space My home has plenty of natural light, fresh air, and a fully fenced backyard. I’m also just a couple of minutes from a large dog park. I shape the day around each dog’s natural rhythm, with relaxed mornings, walks, meals, naps, play, and affection when they want it. My Daily Rhythm I’m home most of the day. When I do go out, it’s usually for a short period of time. If your dog enjoys car rides or outings and it feels appropriate for them, they’re often welcome to come along. Thank You Thank you for considering me to care for your dog. I understand that choosing someone to look after a member of your family is an important decision, and I truly appreciate the trust involved.

We left our Chihuahua Poppy with Albina for a two night stay and it went so well! Because she is reactive, we needed Poppy to be the only animal in the house and Albina was super accommodating. Albina offers pickup/dropoff depending on how far away you live and that really saved us so time. We’ll definitely be booking with Albina again!

Albina did a most excellent job with my dog-reactive Cattledog/Pit mix, Sequoia. She was extremely caring, gentle, and kind. Sequoia was immediately at ease with Albina and she did an excellent job accommodating Sequoia's reactivity and providing her with a wonderful stay. One of the best experiences I've had with a sitter on Rover. She sent me wonderful nightly updates about how Sequoia was doing that put me at ease. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Albina did such a wonderful job taking care of our senior dog Pepper while we were out of town for a few days. She was so kind and considerate about our dog Pepper. She was really easy to communicate with and gave us updates that helped put us at ease while we were away. Would absolutely recommend her to any pet parents.

Schedule

My home is peaceful, structured, and attentive to your dog’s emotional and physical needs. Because I only host one household at a time, I’m able to shape the day around your dog’s individual personality, energy level, and routine. There is no competing energy from other dogs, and I try to keep the environment calm, comfortable, and predictable. Here is a general idea of what a day might look like, with plenty of flexibility depending on your dog’s needs: 7:00 AM Wake up and start the day with a potty break in the backyard. 7:30 to 9:00 AM Breakfast and a quiet morning at home. I like to keep mornings relaxed, with plenty of natural light, a calm atmosphere, and time for your dog to settle into the day. 9:00 to 10:00 AM Morning outing. This might be a neighborhood walk or a visit to the nearby dog park if your dog enjoys that environment and it is appropriate for them. 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Calm time at home with backyard access, rest, and companionship while I work from home. 2:00 PM Midday potty break and check in. 2:00 to 5:00 PM Rest, light play, enrichment, or simply spending time together. Depending on your dog, this might include puzzle toys, a snuffle mat, affection, backyard time, or a good nap. 5:00 to 6:00 PM Evening outing for another walk, fresh air, and gentle movement. 6:00 to 9:30 PM Dinner followed by a relaxed evening and plenty of time to wind down before bed. 9:30 PM Final backyard potty break before settling in for the night. I am home and present for most of the day, aside from occasional short errands, appointments, or gym time. If your dog enjoys car rides and outings, I am often happy to bring them along. If they are more comfortable staying home, I keep my time away brief. Every dog is different, so I do not expect them to fit perfectly into my routine. I adjust the day based on their normal schedule, energy level, age, personality, and what helps them feel most comfortable. My priority is for your dog to feel relaxed, secure, and at home while they are here.

Safety, trust & environment

I offer calm, structured care rooted in presence, consistency, and gentle leadership. Dogs tend to feel most comfortable when they know what to expect, so I keep a steady daily rhythm with outdoor breaks, rest, walks, and quiet companionship. Because I host only one dog at a time, each dog has the space to settle in at their own pace. Some dogs enjoy lots of affection and closeness, while others are happiest simply relaxing nearby. I pay attention to their cues, adjust to what they need, and try to keep the environment peaceful and free from unnecessary stimulation. My home is best suited for mellow, house trained dogs who are comfortable in a calm and predictable environment. My approach is hands on, thoughtful, and centered around helping each dog feel safe, respected, comfortable, and at home while they are with me.

Pets

A typical day

Fun here is simple and centered around what your dog actually enjoys. That might mean a slow sniff walk, some time playing in the backyard, sitting together in the sun, or exploring new scents and surroundings at their own pace. For dogs who are social, relaxed, and comfortable with outings, I may also take them to local trails, parks, or beaches. I always base these outings on your dog’s personality, energy level, and what feels familiar and comfortable for them. I keep activities relaxed and unrushed. Some dogs want more engagement and exploration, while others are happiest watching birds from the yard, napping in a sunny spot, or simply hanging out nearby while I work. I follow their cues and shape the day around what helps them feel happy, comfortable, and at home.

To help your dog feel comfortable here and make sure I can give them the care they need, I like to learn a little about their routine, personality, and habits before their stay. Every dog is different, and the more I know ahead of time, the easier it is for me to make their time here feel familiar and relaxed. When reaching out, please share anything that feels important, including: • Their general energy level and how much activity they typically need • How they do when left alone for short periods • Whether they are crate trained or have a particular rest routine • Potty habits and whether they are fully house trained • Any chewing or destructive tendencies • Whether they experience separation stress, such as barking, howling, pacing, or difficulty settling • Any sensitivities or triggers, including sounds, dogs, people, or particular environments • How they behave on leash • Whether they are comfortable in fenced dog parks or other off leash settings • Their feeding schedule, food sensitivities, medications, or anything they should avoid • Their usual sleeping arrangement and whether they are comfortable sleeping independently Every detail helps me understand your dog and care for them in a way that feels natural and familiar. Drop Off and Pick Up I schedule a specific drop off and pick up time for each stay rather than using broad arrival windows. For example, we might agree on a 9:00 AM drop off and an 11:00 AM pick up. Having a set time helps me organize my day, be fully available when you arrive, and keep transitions calm for the dogs staying with me. I generally do not accommodate open ended or multi hour drop off and pick up windows unless there is a specific need and we have arranged it in advance, such as when your timing depends on a flight or another travel circumstance. My preferred drop off time on the first day is around 9:00 AM, although we can arrange another specific time in advance when needed. For pick up on the final day: • Before 11:00 AM: included in the nightly rate • 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM: half day fee • After 3:00 PM: additional full night • Latest pick up time: 6:00 PM Timing and Late Arrivals Please plan to arrive at the specific time we have agreed upon. I completely understand that unexpected delays happen, so if you are running late, just let me know as soon as possible. Because I schedule my day around each drop off and pick up, arrivals more than 15 minutes after the agreed time are subject to a $10 fee for each additional 15 minutes. Clear timing allows me to plan around each stay while still offering flexibility when travel or other circumstances genuinely require it.
