I have been a professional pet sitter and dog walker in Toronto for about 3 years. I previously worked as a veterinary assistant and commercial dog walker, I possess a certificate in Animal Care, and I am CPR and First Aid certified. I have worked with a variety of cats and dogs in my various roles. Young, old, nervous, excited, fractious- I have seen it all! I have been an avid animal lover since I can remember, having been raised alongside cats and having a had psychiatric service dog for many years. I've got two kitties of my own, a firecracker of a terrier, and two aquatic turtles. I have experience from mammals to reptiles, to fish, having had some fish of my own and a hedgehog! My psych dog, Loki and I, underwent obedience training and he obtained his Canine Good Citizen Certificate. My current dog, Xena, has gone through obedience training as well where we've worked tirelessly to channel her excitement into fun tricks. While I am not a licensed trainer by any means, I love to use the skills I've learned through my journey with my own dogs to help teach yours how to be a more confident pup. I'm happy to do drop-in visits, house sitting, and walks, regardless of weight or breed, or species for that matter. If you even need someone to lend a hand in scrubbing your pup in the tub or clean a litter box, I'm happy to help where I can.

This was my third time accessing Akira's services, so that ought to tell you that I'm very satisfied! I trust Akira because of their experience in animal healthcare services. I was abit concerned about my furry man's previously blocked eurethra, however Akira knew what signs to look for and updated me daily. Akira even wiped my boy's backside because I was concerned! It's obvious that Akira loves animals and specifically, loves my furry man. In the end, isn't that what we want?
We’re very thankful to have seen Akira still available on Rover, so we were able to reconnect for a last minute help with our cat. Akira very attentive to the visits & gives wonderful updates to help ease our minds.
Akira is the best dog sitter/carer/boarder we’ve ever had. They’ve just done an excellent job caring for and loving Lucky during long trips, short overnights, and challenging transitions. We’re so sad to be moving away and losing such a good dog friend. We’re pretty sure our dog likes Akira more than us.
Akira took outstanding care of Piper, my cavalier. Lots of pics, belly rubs, and a walk route supplied for where they went. All very clear and the little pup hand a great visit. Thanks!!

Schedule
My schedule varies greatly week to week, so booking well in advance helps me accomodate you and your pets' needs the best. Just let me know when you need me and I will see what I can do between my other bookings.

As I am an apartment dweller, I unfortunately do not offer daycare services at this time. However, I will follow your specified routines for your pets in your home to ensure they are receiving the best care.

A typical day
I love getting outside and exercising with my own pup, so I plan to take your friend on a nice walk or romp around the yard, allow them to sniff all the smells and take their time. When in the home, I'll be sure to keep dogs mentally stimulated with fun toys and interactive games or puzzles. I can also take time to practice simple commands with your dog if desired, like sit, stay, and down. Of course, if there's anything in particular you know your pet enjoys, please share!

- If your dog has any specific dietary needs, medications, or any other special needs, let me know how I can best accommodate you and your dog. I'm familiar with certain food intolerances in my own animals, and have plenty of experience giving oral medications, eye and dermal ointments, and am capable of providing injected medications as well. Just let me know what special needs your pet has beforehand!
