During the summer months I don’t work, so looking to add a furry friend to our family while I’m home. I have kids, so while we may go out for occasional outings, if the dog isn’t joining us, the dog would only be home for a few hours. During the school year, I would only be gone weekdays for 4-6 hours.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fenced rural property (just under an acre) on the edge of Comox, with access to trails and beaches, galore! There is a mudroom inside our home that is a safe place to leave a dog, or a crate if they feel safe. My children understand how to approach and treat dogs carefully and respectfully (they are 7 and 10 years old). With some blankets on the couch, your dog is welcome up for some cuddles! The house is well setup for a dog, as our last one lived here too. There is always access to fresh water for your pup, we have a walk in shower with easy access from the door on tile, and our home is a comfortable temperature year round with a heat pump.

Information Aisling B. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if there is any special needs. My last dog easily took daily oral medication, so I can do that if they are used to it. Please let us know their routines, likes and dislikes, what they can eat, and anything else pertinent. They must like kids as I have two boys - 7 and 10!

A typical day

Daily walks are a must! We’ll go for hikes or walks, and if they like to run beside a bike, we can do that too. We can go to the beach for a swim as well. Throwing a ball is easy in our yard, and we have toys from our old dog. Also lots of cuddles, pats and love!

Sweet family who loves your dog!

Pet care experience

We had to say goodbye to our sweet dog last fall and would welcome some occasional furry love in our home again! I understand what’s involved in taking care of a dog properly, all while giving them love and attention. I raised a vizsla dog from puppy through to senior and passing on. He had epilepsy which required daily medication his whole life, was a high energy alpha male, and had lots of minor medical issues. I also grew up with a collie-shepherd rescue when I was younger.

I worked for Aisling for four years and had the privilege of spending that time alongside her dog too. Aisling is a genuinely devoted dog lover. Her patience and warmth with animals shine through in the way she cared for her own dog and how she interacts with others out on walks. Any dog in Aislings care would be in wonderful hands.

Aisling has had a love affair with dogs since the age of 7. When she went to University she really missed her dog. She was unable to get another dog until she got married and had her own house. She did a lot of research into what type of dog she wanted and when she got it she lavished it with lots of love. Unfortunately the dog developed a serious illness but she made sure that it got the best medical attention and still lived a good life. After it died she made a lovely photographic booklet of its life. She misses him deeply.
