I work from home, which allows me to be flexible and present throughout the day. Because I’m home-based, I’m able to maintain consistent feeding times, potty breaks, and check-ins, and I’m not rushing in and out. I plan my schedule intentionally so the pets in my care receive steady attention and aren’t left alone for long stretches.

I know how important routines are, and I follow routines in my own life, so I respect and stick to the ones you’ve created for your pet. If I’m in your home, I’m mindful and respectful of your space. And I stay present on walks, especially here in Brooklyn where things can get busy. I don’t rush, and I don’t multitask when I’m responsible for your pet. As a pet owner, I understand the level of trust it takes to leave your animal with someone so I take that seriously. I’m based in Brooklyn and I’ve had cats and dogs in my life since I was about five years old, many of them from the time they were kittens and puppies. I’ve watched pets for family and friends for years, and I’ve taken care of school/classroom pets for extended periods of time. Caring for animals has always felt natural to me. I’m a calm, soft-spoken person, and animals tend to respond well to that energy. I pay attention to their body language, their routines, and the little things that help them feel safe. I also believe good pet care starts with understanding the pet parent. I take time to get to know you, your routines, your expectations, your concerns so I can truly be of service and support your pet the way you would. Trust matters to me, and I don’t take it lightly. When your pet is with me, they’re cared for with patience, consistency, and real presence.

Afiya is such a great pet sitter. She is always attentive, kind, and happy to give Diamond the care (and all the petting) our little aging doggy needs.
