I've been around cats my whole life, starting with my own cat Gigi: playful, affectionate, and the reason I can read a cat's mood from across the room. At Seattle Humane I volunteered in cat care, handling feeding, litter maintenance, medication schedules, and socializing cats who were shy or stressed from being in the shelter. I've also looked after friends' cats regularly while they travel, covering drop-in visits, feeding, litter, and playtime. What I'd say sets me apart: I'm patient with cats who need time to warm up, and I don't take hiding personally. I keep to your cat's existing routine rather than imposing my own, I'm comfortable giving oral meds, and I clean the litter box properly every visit, not just a quick scoop. You'll get updates and photos so you know how things are going.

In a client's home, I follow their routine exactly: same feeding times, same food, same litter setup, and I leave everything as I found it. I check that windows and doors are secure before leaving, watch for signs of stress or illness, and send an update after each visit. I keep the owner's vet info and an emergency contact on hand, and I'll reach out immediately if anything seems off.

Affan has cat-sit for my kitten on multiple occasions, sometimes for drop-ins on the weekend, and other times for when I was away for even weeks at a time. My cat (Sootie) was very comfortable with Affan checking in on him, he enjoyed to play with Affan a lot. Affan was also always timely in checking in on Sootie so to not disrupt his routine, as we know cats are very sensitive to! When I would return from traveling I would notice Sootie in good health and happiness, unlike his usual anxious self when I returned from travel. I recommend Affan as a stellar catsitter!
Affan is an amazing pet caregiver!! I would trust him with pet boarding and also with cat sitting in your home. When he lived in Austin, he would visit my 2 cats whenever I was out of town to spend time with them, feed them, and make sure they were doing well in general. He’s very prompt with updates and makes it feel like someone who cares about your pet as much as you do is taking care of them when you’re not home which lets you travel worry free. Highly recommend.

Schedule
I work as a data engineer with a predictable weekday schedule, so I can reliably do morning and evening visits, plus midday drop-ins when I'm working from home. Weekends are wide open, and I'm flexible on timing with a bit of notice. I'll always confirm availability before booking so there are no surprises.

- Before the first visit I like to know the basics: feeding schedule and portions, food brand and where it's kept, litter setup and where supplies are, and any medications with timing and dosage. Beyond that, the things that really help are personality details, whether your cat hides from new people, if they bolt for open doors, any spots they're not allowed, and how they signal stress. I also want your vet's contact info, an emergency contact, and a heads-up on any health issues or dietary restrictions. A quick meet-and-greet beforehand goes a long way, especially with shy cats.
