Board & Train for Puppies ONLY

I'm here for the PUPPIES! The peeing, pooping, razor sharp biting, zooming through the house, shoe chomping, can't-stop-jumping puppies. I will do the hard work for you! If you're a busy professional, parent or otherwise don't have the bandwidth to deal with the early weeks, let me take this challenging time off your hands through my Puppy Preschool. I will let them pee all over my house instead of yours! Just kidding, I run a tight ship and they will learn to go outside, get used to a potty cue, learn to hold it indoors and in their crate. Save your floors and carpeting! I love puppies and have fun training them to be easy to live with. I will care for your puppy in my home, treat it as part of the family and get your puppy started with the following: - House training - Crate training - House manners - Leash manners - Acceptance of body handling and grooming - Obedience basics! I will provide progress notes, photos and videos so you can see your puppy in action. I accept puppies over 8 weeks and up to about 4 months (with health clearance from a vet). Training involves a 4 week stay for puppy. Preference will be given to low and non shedding breeds like standard poodles and medium to large poodle mixes. Puppy's beginning age and length of stay will impact how much they will be able to learn and retain, but your follow through will make the biggest difference. No puppy can be programmed like a robot, but in my home they will have an excellent start and allow you to skip through a portion of the "shark" stage while puppy learns good behavior. I've had my own dogs for over 17 years with up to 3 at a time and have dog sat plenty for friends. I've put various titles on 3 of my dogs including CGC, Rally Novice and Novice Obedience (Companion Dog). And I've also been involved in Pet Partners doing therapy dog visits with one of my past dogs. I believe dogs thrive with structure and obedience training so they know what to expect and how to best fit into the human-centered world. NOTE: I am only accepting puppies for board and train - OR - neutered/spayed adolescent/young adult dogs for stays of 1+ weeks. NO short stays.

Schedule

I am not accepting short boarding stays for adult dogs. I am only accepting puppy board and train bookings - OR 1+ week stays for young neutered/spayed dogs. NO short term boarding. While I do work some away from home, I am available to be with my own dog frequently through the day and caring for an extra dog is no big deal. Plus puppies sleep a lot in their first 4 months of life and benefit from down time to recharge their batteries. There will be plenty of time for learning, playing and snuggles! I also have older kids and a hubby who can chip in as needed if I'm not home. Dogs gravitate toward my husband who is very dog savvy and my kids (12 and 14) have grown up with dogs and are great helpers for potty breaks, feeding, and supervised play time.

Safety, trust & environment

Safety is #1 Your puppy will always be supervised, even in our fenced yard. When supervision is not possible, they will practice crate time. Interaction with my dog will also be supervised. My own dogs are kept up to date on vaccines, flea and heartworm prevention. Prior to starting Puppy Kindergarten, I require that your puppy have: - a vet exam and clean fecal (from your own vet) - documentation that your puppy is flea free and on flea/tick prevention - started on vaccines. If your puppy is due for boosters during their time with me, we can arrange this with a local vet of your choosing (I will recommend mine) in advance. ^This keeps our home free of parasites so we don't pass them around. I want my own dog and yours to be safe. Otherwise dirt is just dirt and not an issue.

Pets

A typical day

Backyard play time, fetch practice, confidence building, car rides for puppies, basic training for house and leash manners, play time with our resident family dog, kongs and licky mats, learning and more learning! We will only venture off the property for puppies with complete vaccinations OR for those whose owners explicitly request and agree to mitigated socialization outside our home/yard.

41 to 100 lbs
Unspayed females accepted, neutered males only
No females in heat
Takes only 1 client at a time
Adina can host up to 1 pet per night
Let me know if you have any special requests for your puppy's time here. Happy to accommodate what I can to meet yours and your puppy's needs. I will need the following from your puppy's vet: 1) A clear fecal exam (that has to be sent to a lab that tests for internal parasites including giardia) within 5 days of start of Puppy Board & Train. 2) Documentation from your puppy's vet that puppy is healthy and safe for Puppy Board & Train as well as free from external parasites (fleas, etc). I will let you know my fax number so this info can easily be faxed to me from the vet's office. NOTE that both of the above requirements must be from your puppy's current vet under your care, not from the breeder's previous vet visits or that of a previous owner.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
