Pet care fits naturally into my day because I have a flexible schedule and run my own business. I build my days around visits and walks so I am not rushing in and out. Each stop has space for the dog to settle, get what they need, and not feel like part of a tight rotation. Most of my availability falls during standard work hours, which works well for midday walks and drop-in visits. That is usually when dogs need the reset the most. I also keep my schedule intentionally manageable. I am not trying to stack as many bookings as possible. I am making sure each dog gets the time and attention they actually need. Consistency matters here too. Once we establish a routine, I aim to keep it steady so your dog knows what to expect each day.

I approach care in your home with one goal in mind. Keep things as consistent and familiar as possible for your dog. I follow the routine you already have in place. Feeding, walks, bathroom breaks, and downtime all happen in a way that feels normal to them. I am not trying to introduce a new system. I am stepping into yours. I pay attention to how your dog responds during each visit. Energy levels, behavior, appetite, and overall comfort. If something feels off, I notice it early. Walks are structured based on what your dog needs that day. Some need a quick reset. Others need more time to move and settle. I adjust accordingly. In between, I make sure they are not just “checked on,” but actually engaged. Whether that is play, reinforcement of good leash habits, or just giving them space to relax if that is what they need. Respecting your home is part of the job as well. Everything is left the way I found it, clean and secure. The goal is simple. Your dog feels comfortable, your routine stays intact, and you can step away without wondering how things are going at home. You will also get a full Rover report from me beyond what you normally get in the app that I have designed to give you a full overview of what’s been going on while you’re away.

Information Abigail O. would like to know about your pet

Every dog is different, and the small details are usually what matter most. I like to understand their routine first. When they eat, how often they go out, how they typically behave on walks, and what helps them settle. That gives me a baseline so I am not guessing during a visit. Temperament is also important. Whether they are more anxious, high energy, or need a slower approach. Some dogs want immediate interaction. Others need a minute to warm up. Knowing that ahead of time changes how I show up at the door. For puppies, I like to know where they are in terms of leash training and exposure so I can meet them where they are and continue building on it, not overwhelm them. I also ask about any triggers, sensitivities, or behaviors to watch for. Food preferences, medications, and anything that would be considered out of the ordinary for them. The goal is simple. When I walk in, it should feel familiar to your dog, not like a disruption.

A typical day

Fun looks different for every dog, so I build it around what actually engages them. For some, that is a longer walk where they have time to explore, pick up new smells, and burn energy in a way that helps them settle afterward. For others, it is more about play. Fetch, tug, or just moving around enough to break up the day. With puppies, fun is also part of learning. Getting them comfortable with new environments, practicing leash behavior, and letting them experience the world in a way that builds confidence instead of overwhelming them. Some dogs do not need high energy at all. They need presence. Sitting with them, giving attention, and letting them relax without feeling alone. I pay attention to what each dog gravitates toward and adjust from there. The goal is not to run through activities. It is to make sure they feel engaged, balanced, and comfortable by the time I leave.

Pet care experience

I’ve been around dogs for as long as I can remember. Not just loving them, but paying attention to them. How they settle into a space. How they react when something feels off. How much of their behavior is tied to routine. My first experience working with animals started when I was 11, helping in a pet shop. Cleaning kennels. Bathing puppies. Learning quickly that care is not just about showing up. It is about understanding what makes an animal feel safe. That has stayed with me. What I’ve learned over time is that most dogs do not struggle because they are “difficult.” They struggle when their environment changes too quickly, or when their routine disappears. That is usually what happens with boarding. A new place. New smells. New dogs. Different energy. Even the best facilities cannot recreate what your dog already knows. And that is where in-home care changes everything. Your dog stays in their space. Their routine stays intact. Their stress stays low. You are not asking them to adjust to everything all at once. You are just making sure they are taken care of. For clients who travel, that means leaving without wondering how their dog is adjusting somewhere unfamiliar. For clients who work long hours, it means coming home to a dog that has already been walked, fed, and paid attention to. Not one that has been waiting all day. ⸻ What I actually do I offer both drop-in visits and walks, depending on what your dog needs. Walks are available in 30 and 60 minute options. Some dogs need a quick reset. Others need time to actually burn energy and settle. I structure walks based on that, not just the clock. I also work with multiple dog households, making sure each dog is handled safely and gets the attention they need. For puppies, walks are not just about getting energy out. They are about exposure. New smells. New environments. Getting comfortable on a leash. Learning how to move through the world without being overwhelmed. That foundation matters more than most people realize. Drop-in visits cover the day-to-day needs. Feeding. Water. Bathroom breaks. Playtime. A reset in the middle of the day. If your schedule keeps you out for long stretches, this becomes the difference between a stressed dog and a regulated one. ⸻ The work itself is simple on paper. But the impact is not. You are giving your dog consistency. You are removing unnecessary stress from their day. You are making sure they still feel like themselves, even when your schedule shifts. I pay attention to the small things. Energy levels. Behavior changes. What they need that day, not just what is on the checklist. Because good care is not about doing more. It is about noticing more. If that is the kind of care you are looking for, I would love to take care of your dog.
