Pet care experience

Treating your pets like my own

I’ve grown up around dogs and cats and have always been passionate about animal care. I graduated in May from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, and I’ll start veterinary school this fall. Through my education and experience shadowing and working in veterinary clinics, I’ve gained valuable knowledge about animal health, behavior, and safety. I’ve also pet sat for friends and family, caring for pets of many sizes and personalities—from small beagle-sized dogs to large breeds like Great Pyrenees, as well as cats. I’m comfortable with feeding routines, exercise, administering basic care, and making sure pets feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. My background in animal science and veterinary environments helps me recognize signs of stress or health concerns early, so your pets will be in attentive and knowledgeable hands.

Abigail was a great sitter! We received pics and videos showing what good care Abigail was providing. She did great keeping her on track with meds. Really appreciate the communication.

Abbie was the best! We booked her to stay at our house from Friday to Friday and throughout the stay was very communicative, sent lots of photos throughout the stay, gave our dog his meds, and we could tell our dog was happy when we got home. On days she had to work during our dog’s regular potty breaks, she not only let us know but offered someone who could help with those potty break times (our neighbors came a couple times instead but we sincerely appreciated that she had those times covered). When our flight home was cancelled and we had to take 3 flights (through 3 countries) home, she was ready to stay another night just in case and stayed super late to make sure Paul was taken care of. Could not recommend her more!

Abigail took such good care of our pup while we were away for 4 nights. He always looked so happy when she sent photos. And when we returned from our trip, our home was just as we left it- she even washed her towels. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Abigail.

Schedule

As a first-year veterinary student, I have classes throughout the week, both in person and online, but I live very close to campus, which gives me plenty of flexibility to be home between classes. I’ll also be spending a lot of time studying from home, so I’d love nothing more than to have a furry study buddy by my side! I’m happy to make time for walks, playtime, meals, medications, and plenty of attention. I love having animals around and would be excited to give your pet lots of love and companionship while you’re away!

Safety, trust & environment

Safety and comfort are my top priorities when caring for pets. I always try to keep pets on their normal routine as much as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any specific instructions the owner provides. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I make sure they feel secure in their familiar environment while providing plenty of attention, exercise, and affection. I also keep the space clean and make sure doors, gates, and leashes are handled carefully to prevent any accidents or escapes. With my background studying Animal Science at The Ohio State University and experience in veterinary clinics, I’m attentive to pet behavior and health. I can recognize signs of stress or illness and will communicate quickly with owners if anything seems unusual. My goal is always to make pets feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while their owners are away.

A typical day

My goal is to provide a fun, safe, and engaging environment for every pet I watch! Dogs can enjoy walks and supervised playtime, including access to fenced areas in my complex where they can run freely and burn off energy. For pets who prefer a calmer pace, I make sure they get plenty of attention, affection, and relaxation time so they feel comfortable and at home.
