Pet care experience
Experienced Cat Owner
Growing up, my mother also did TNR work in our hometown, and I’ve volunteered hours working with feral cats, neonatal kittens, and cuddly strays. Taking in all those cats, I’ve gathered a lot of experience administering medicine, learning about disease control and prevention, and working around a cats disabilities, age, or temperament. With all my years of experience having these cats in the home, my knowledge of feline diseases and conditions is vast. Does you cat have FeLV, FIV, herpesvirus? Ringworm or parasites? Perfectly fine. If there are others without those in the home, trust that I’ll take every precaution possible by changing my shoes and clothes, washing my hands, and making sure the special pet stays in their space. Does their diabetes, asthma, arthritis, or stomatitis mean they require around the clock oral meds or intramuscular injections? No problem. Mine too! Let me know their schedule, and I’ll be on top of it. Does your baby require some extra patience, care, and maybe some cleaning? Are they incontinent or have trouble getting around due to a neurological disability or a missing leg? Are they hearing or visually impaired? Perfect! I’ll help your baby out without fuss. Do I just need to pop in, clean their box, drop some food, and head out? That’s fine I guess… I know that every medically complicated cat has their own routine and their own limits, so I’m happy to follow detailed instructions from owners or interpret medical records. I believe animals deserve a gentle hand and plenty of patience, especially when they’re nervous with their family away. My goal is to always make your pet feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you are away. I’m much more catered to cat care, as I feel more comfortable in my knowledge and experience working with them, but I’m open to dogs aswell. For a straight forward list of things I’ve had hands on experience with: 🔺 FeLV, FIV, herpesvirus, parasites/worms, asthma, diabetes, stomatitis, partially/fully blind cats, partially/fully deaf cats, tripods, cats with incontinence/requiring assistance toileting. 🔺administering oral pill/liquid meds, topical, eye, and ear meds, inhalers/nebulizers, syringe feeding, insulin injections/subq fluids, supporting special diets, and monitoring post-op cats.

Safety, trust & environment
A short ramble of you pet is all I need to understand what your pet likes and doesn’t like. Tell me the average day you two have, how they are around others, any quirks or stories, and I’ll keep it all in mind. My own baby has severe anxiety when left alone, meaning either me or my roommate have to cuddle up with her every night to keep her calm. If your pet requires the same and would like me present in the home as much as possible, that is absolutely no issue. Living in a busy college town, having an escape artist can be quite stressful. I’ve had a few escape artists of my own, so I take every precaution to keep your baby inside by default. I will treat your home as my own and ensure it’s in the same state you left it in. Trash will be taken out if needed, plants will be watered or rotated, treats and particularly appetizing pieces of plastic or wires will be tucked away, and any pet messes will be cleaned up immediately.

Schedule
I work varying hours, ranging from being away 10 am to 4 pm, or 4 pm to 12 am. These are typically the only hours I work. I have a lab every wednesday in the afternoon. I have my own cat that needs meds every day, but once she’s taken care of I can head over to your place to stop in or spend the night with your baby. For cats requiring insulin, I may need a week or two in advance so I can let work know to schedule me a specific way so I can provide the injection twice a day at the same time. I’m a Public Health major at a&m, aswell as enrolled in a CCMA program via Blinn, but I do all my schoolwork online, so my schedule is free aside from work.
- CatsAbigail can host up to 3 drop-ins per day
