Availability
My schedule is quite flexible around my college timetable and part-time work. I am generally available for pet care most days of the week, including mornings, afternoons and evenings depending on the day. I am fully available on Sundays and Mondays, and I also have good availability around my college hours on weekdays (this will finish in May!). I am happy to arrange visits, walks or house sitting around your pet’s normal routine to make sure they stay comfortable and well looked after.

Safety, trust & environment
When caring for pets I always prioritise safety, routine and keeping things as stress-free as possible. I take the time to understand each pet’s normal routine, feeding schedule and behaviour so they feel comfortable while their owners are away. I am pet first aid trained and fully insured, and I have experience caring for animals with different temperaments and needs. I am also confident administering medication if required. I always make sure homes are left secure, pets have fresh food and water, and they receive plenty of attention, play and enrichment during visits!
Information Abi A. would like to know about your pet
Where possible, i’d like to meet up with you to discuss your pet, please let me know about your pet’s normal routine, feeding schedule and any medical conditions so I can care for them properly. I am comfortable administering medication and have experience caring for dogs with conditions such as epilepsy. It is also helpful to know if your dog is reactive, nervous around certain triggers, prone to car sickness, or has any behaviours I should be aware of. This allows me to plan walks and care safely. Also, if your dog is reactive or prefers quieter environments, I can arrange visits to a secure private dog field so they can enjoy safe off lead time without the stress of busy public areas, other dogs and potential triggers. This can be organised for a small additional cost if requested. I have a lot of experience with larger and high energy breeds including German Shepherds, Boxers, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Vizlas and other active mixes, but I am happy caring for dogs of all sizes and personalities. Every dog receives one to one attention, patience and care tailored to their individual needs! In regards to cats, it is helpful to know if they are indoor only or indoor outdoor, whether they wear a collar or tracker, and if they have any favourite hiding spots or toys. If your cat is nervous around new people or prefers minimal interaction, just let me know so I can approach them calmly and give them space to settle. I am also happy to administer medication if required. Please also let me know if your cat has any medical conditions, allergies or special care instructions so I can keep their routine as normal and comfortable as possible while you are away!!
A typical day
Every pet is different, so I try to follow their normal routine as closely as possible to keep things familiar and stress free. Walks are not just about exercise. I like to include plenty of sniffing opportunities, enrichment and little games so dogs are mentally stimulated as well as physically exercised. With cats, they are very routine based, so I always keep feeding times and daily routines consistent. Some cats love attention while others prefer their space, so I let them approach me in their own time. I’m very comfortable with shy or nervous cats and often find they warm up quickly with a calm and patient approach. I am also happy to clean litter trays, wipe up any messes and keep feeding areas tidy so everything is clean and comfortable for your pet when you return home. For higher energy dogs we can include longer walks, toy based games and structured activities. For puppies, senior dogs or brachycephalic breeds I adjust the pace and length of walks so they stay comfortable and safe. At home I spend time playing, providing enrichment, practicing calm behaviours and making sure pets get plenty of attention and interaction. I always aim for a relaxed, positive environment where pets feel secure and happy while their owners are away.

Pet care experience
I studied Animal Management at Level 3 and have hands-on experience caring for a wide range of animals. I’ve worked in kennels, gained experience in a wildlife park environment, and regularly assist with pet care through Kim’s Companion Care, including home boarding, dog walking and drop-in visits for kitties!! I am pet first aid trained through ProTrainings and fully insured, giving owners extra reassurance that their pets are in safe and capable hands. I am a massive animal lover and have owned cats, rabbits, fish, hamsters and now a dog! I have also helped with caring for my family’s chickens, dogs, horses, guinea pigs and budgies too! I have experience caring for dogs of all sizes (I especially love a big dog!) and temperaments, including puppies and high-energy breeds. I’m confident with feeding routines, enrichment, administering medication and maintaining consistent routines so pets feel comfortable and settled while their owners are away. Alongside dogs, I also have experience caring for cats, birds, reptiles, fish and other small animals. I have two cats of my own and a German Shepherd puppy called Maeve, so I understand the importance of structure, patience and positive training when caring for dogs. I treat every pet as if they were my own and always prioritise their safety, wellbeing and happiness. I also know how important it is for owners to feel reassured while they’re away, so I’m always happy to provide regular updates, photos and messages so you can see how your pet is doing 😊 Please message for my availability as it varies depending on the day due to juggling college and work! 🌟
