Attentive, Reliable, Your Pup’s Fav

Hey there! I'm Abby. I've lived in and around the twin cities for my full 28 years of life. During the week, I work as a commercial interior designer in Minneapolis. In my free time, I enjoy finding thrifted furniture and décor for my apartment, cooking a good meal, spin classes, and lounging on my patio. Dogs always have and always will be one of my favorite things that this life has to offer. I grew up taking care of and befriending two beagles and a jack russel/dalmation mix. I'm currently living without any dogs and am patiently waiting for the day when I will have one (or two) of my own! I've had experience both nannying and dog-sitting for my neighbors, family members, and friends. When necessary and requested by an owner, I've stayed overnight at their home in order to follow their dog's unique schedule. I've had experience caring for multiple dogs at a time and am highly attentive when it comes to keeping track of their individual needs. I'm here because I simply love being around dogs, I love learning their unique personalities, and I find it incredibly fulfilling taking care of another living thing. Similarly to humans, every dog is different and deserves to be acknowledged as unique! I'm well educated when it comes to understanding the physical and mental needs of most breeds and recognize that one size certainly does not fit all. I'm knowledgeable about different threats to dogs and know how to properly prepare in order to avoid them.

Abby was amazing! It was my first time using a rover sitter and she made the process smooth, comfortable and took great care of my little Yorkie Bambi while I was on a trip 😊 Feeling grateful to have found her!

Schedule

I work full-time during the week 9am - 5pm. I'm currently doing a hybrid of working from home and working in the office. The majority of my weekends are open and free for all of my services. Monday through Friday, I can do early morning walks and drop-ins anytime before 8:30am. I can also do evening walks and drop-ins after 5:30pm. I can do boarding during week, however, I will mention that your dog will have to be left alone for up to 4 hours at a time when I go have to go into the office. I'm currently doing a hybrid of working from home/in the office so this may not always be the case. In the situation that I have to work a full 8 hours in the office, I'll ensure that your dog gets a good morning walk before I leave for the day. I'll also come home during my lunch break for a mid-day visit and outside time. If you prefer that your dog is not left alone during their stay with me, just ask! If I know this ahead of time, I can try to make special accomodations and request to work from home for a day or two. I will be very transparent about what my schedule is like during your dog's stay!

Safety, trust & environment

Care in my home: I currently live in a spacious apartment in North Loop. The place gets lots of natural light has a large, outdoor terrace. Assuming that it’s okay with you, your pup is welcome to lounge on the furniture. Cleaning products are kept in a cabinet out of reach, the place is clean & clutter-free, and my house plants are non-toxic to pets but still kept out of reach. I don't have any pets of my own currently so that means your fur baby has my full and undivided attention! Care in your home: Letting someone else care for your dog takes A LOT of trust - letting someone into your home to care for you dog takes even more trust! I'd describe myself as very respectful, organized, and responsible especially when someone else has decided to put their trust in me. I will treat your dog and your things exactly the way I'd want someone else to treat my dog and my things. No matter how detailed your care plan(s) may be, I can ensure that it will be respected and followed as I would only hope and expect that someone would do the same for me.

A typical day

When dogs stay at my place, I like to provide at least two 30 minute walks per day. This can of course be modified depending on your dogs specific needs and physical capabilities. When walking, there’s typically no rush - I let them sniff around as this helps to stimulate them mentally. I also have a couple of dog parks near me within walking distance that I frequent often!

Let me know if there are any health concerns or certain behaviors that I should look out for when watching your pup. I would also like to have a general idea of the rules/training you’ve put in place for your dog - this will help to prevent confusion and mixed signals!
