Pet care fits seamlessly into my daily routine as a medical student who is studying full time from home. Whether it’s morning walks, midday playtime, or evening relaxation, I structure my time to ensure dogs receive consistent attention and care. Being a homebody, who lives down the block from the dog park, allows me to spend extended periods with the dogs, making sure their needs are met throughout the day. This balance between my studies and pet care gives me the opportunity to focus on what I love—caring for animals while managing my academic responsibilities.

Safety, trust & environment
In my 1,400 sq. ft. apartment near multiple dog parks, I create a safe and comfortable environment for the dogs I care for. The spacious layout allows for plenty of room to relax and play, while the nearby dog park provides an excellent space for exercise and socialization. I ensure each dog feels at ease, maintaining a consistent routine that includes regular walks, feeding, and cuddles. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize their routine, following specific instructions for feeding, exercise, and any special care needs. I take pride in keeping the home tidy and treating it with respect, ensuring that both pets and owners feel comfortable and confident while I’m there.

Information Aaron P. would like to know about your pet
I do my best to do a very thorough intake during our first Meet and Greet, prior to booking. I try to really understand your pup and put you at ease. My intake form might have been influenced by my practicing medicine, haha. 1. Temperament and Behavior: I need to understand how the pet behaves around strangers, other animals, and in different environments to tailor my approach. 2. Health Concerns: It’s important for me to know about any allergies, medications, or ongoing health issues, along with the veterinary contact information and vaccine records. 3. Dietary Needs: I’ll ask about their food, portion sizes, and any specific dietary restrictions to avoid any health issues. 4. Exercise Requirements: I want to understand their activity level and how much exercise they need so I can plan appropriate walks and playtime. 5. Routine and Schedule: Knowing their daily schedule for feeding, walks, and playtime is essential since pets thrive on routine. 6. Favorite Activities and Toys: I’ll find out what their favorite games, toys, and activities are to help keep them happy and engaged. 7. House Rules: I need to know any specific rules or boundaries set by the pet owner (like off-limits areas) to maintain consistency. 8. Socialization Preferences: Understanding the pet's preferences for interaction with people and other animals will help me manage playdates or outings. 9. Emergency Contacts: I’ll make sure to have a list of emergency contacts, including the owner, a backup caregiver, and the veterinarian, just in case. 10. Training and Commands: It’s important for me to know any basic commands or training cues the pet is familiar with so I can communicate effectively. 11. House training Status This way, I’ll be fully prepared to provide the best care for the pets I’m watching!
A typical day
Playtime: I love engaging in their favorite games, like fetch, tug-of-war, or hide-and-seek with their toys. Singing: I tend to create little sing-songs for each pup that they come to love, as they come to associate them with treats and fun times! Outdoor Adventures: I take them for walks or hikes in pet-friendly parks. Exploring new environments is always exciting for them! Training Sessions: I work on basic commands or fun tricks. It’s a great way to bond and mentally stimulate them. Puzzle Toys: I use interactive toys that challenge them to solve problems for treats, keeping their minds sharp. Doggy Playdates: If your pup is comfortable being social, I like to arrange playdates with other friendly pets to encourage socialization. I have a host of pups that live locally I see on a regular basis. We go on walks together or play in one another's yards. We like to spend lots of time at the park (Ridgeland and Maple) making new friends and getting enough exercise in to induce nap time! Cuddling and Relaxation: Sometimes, just chilling together on the couch is the best activity, especially for cuddly pets! Bath Time Fun: If they enjoy water and are in need of some TLC, I turn bath time into a fun activity, making sure to use pet-friendly products, peanut butter on the walls and kongs to keep them busy. Agility Course: I set up a mini agility course in my living room using household items for them to navigate. Photo Sessions: I love capturing fun moments together for mom and dad! I try to send at least 3 videos per day full of the activities we're engaging in. I have a habit of printing pictures of the dogs I watch as I consider them family. Seasonal Activities: I tailor activities to the season, like playing in the snow or splashing in water at a pool during warmer months.

10+ Years of Loving Care
Pet care experience
For 36 years, dogs have been a source of immense joy in my life. Because of the unconditional love they offer, I'm honored to provide them with the highest level of care. Simply put, I'm interested in joining Rover for the study companionship, and to spoil your little furry family members! I try to make the environment as stimulating and enjoyable for the pups so that they get a vacation while here. My friends joke that they call my house "Camp Aaron" for the pups, a place I take great pride in cultivating. We sing songs, have lots of treats, go on hikes, and spend lots of time outdoors. Although I can't commit to having a pet of my own before starting residency in two years, my love for dogs is strong. Caring for dogs through pet-sitting allows me to have the joy and companionship they bring into my life while providing them with the attention and care they deserve. I’m passionate about making sure each dog I look after feels safe, loved, and well cared for, which is why I dedicate my time and expertise to this role. As a trained professional in pet CPR and first aid, I am equipped to handle any potential emergencies, ensuring your dog’s safety and well-being. Whether your pet requires specialized attention, such as administering medications or support for senior dogs, or just a playful companion, I bring both my medical background and a genuine passion for animals to the role. My goal is to offer reliable, compassionate care while prioritizing your dog’s health and happiness. In short, I want your pup to feel like my home is their second home—a safe, familiar place they’re excited to come back to. One of my most touching moments as a sitter was when a pup slipped away from their owner a mile from my place. Instead of wandering aimlessly, they ran straight to my door. I immediately called the owner, relieved that everything turned out okay—but more than that, I was deeply honored. In a moment of uncertainty, that pup knew exactly where they felt safe and loved. That’s the kind of trust I work to build with every dog I care for.
Reviews

We had a great experience withAaron who did a few weekday drop in visits for us! He was very thorough during the intake and took the time to do a meet-and-greet to make sure it was a good fit for everyone, which we really appreciated. During the drop-in visits, Aaron took our pup to a local dog park (with our permission of course) where she got plenty of exercise and socialization—and had a great time. It gave us a lot of peace of mind knowing she was in such good hands. We’d definitely book with Aaron again!

Aaron was so helpful with watching our dog before our son’s birthday party! He was professional, friendly, and clearly a dog person (has a great calm energy around our pup). She warmed right up to him and I was grateful he was thoughtful enough to swing by and grab her day of vs us having to take her to him. We would def recommend Aaron and are looking forward to using him in the future!

Thanks, Aaron! Another Poppy visit in the books! So glad I found you. We'll be back.

Aaron is a wonderful sitter! He is very caring and thoughtful, and makes sure he understands your dog's needs and your expectations for each stay. Thank you, Aaron! I'm so glad I found you.
