About: I'm new to Rover, but not new to pet-sitting! For the last ten years, I've been taking care of dogs and cats all over the world. First, I took care of my housemates' pets whenever they went away; then, I started traveling through TrustedHousesitters, and have since taken care of pets from Wexford to Melbourne. Many of their hosts and I still keep in touch, and of course, I miss the pets themselves. The only hard part of the process is saying goodbye. Since I settled in Sligo, I found that I missed taking care of pets, so I wanted to start again. I really love meeting new animals and building trusting relationships with them over time. I'm a writer, so I do the vast majority of my work at home, which means I'm very flexible in terms of taking on petsitting work (and if you'd like to check out my work, my public website is ........). Finally, if your pet likes music--I've been known to play my guitar for them, so just ask! While I'm new to this platform, I've included my past TrustedHousesitters reviews in my photos, so please have a look. And if you have any questions, feel free to reach out. Thanks for reading! PLEASE NOTE: unfortunately, I cannot board pets in my home. I rent, and the landlord does not allow pets. Thank you for understanding! I'm a writer, and mostly work from home. That means--whether I'm in my own home or yours--I can be very flexible around each individual pet's needs. I also have a car, so I'm more than happy to take your pet out for walks on any of the lovely trails in and around Sligo...or even just a stroll through the park. I don't have any pets of my own, which means that I can centre yours! I make sure to provide a calm, nurturing, gentle presence for all new animals, letting them guide me in terms of establishing safety and trust.

About: Hi there animal lovers and parents! My name is Auriel and I grew up with animals on a farm in Co. Meath. My whole life has revolved around animals, particularly dogs, cats and horses. I have many years of experience looking after them from the age of 2/3. I know how to treat animals and I know what they need on a daily basis. I respect them and love them. In 2023, sadly, my older dog Zara passed away recently from cancer, and I miss her a lot and would like company now for my other little dog. He is a Jack Russell Terrier and very happy. He is very friendly with other dogs and cats! He gets lots of exercise, is shown lots of love and affection every day but he would like to play more! He is very good with other dogs but prefers small dogs. I know how to look after animals properly as they've always been a big part of my life and was taught how to do it from a very early age. I'll look after your pet well and look forward to making them welcome in my home and happy while out on walks etc. I will update you with photos and videos so you will be reassured that your pet is doing great! Toby is NOT neutered. Please bear this in mind. Thankyou I work part time and outdoors sometimes too so your pet will get plenty of fun walks and can play with my Jack Russel terrier I have a lovely friendly 4 year old Jack Russel who loves doggy company. The house has two gardens, one very private and fully enclosed out the back. Your pet will be spoiled, staying in comfort and company with us. Loads of lovely places to walk plus beaches and woodland nearby!

Thanks so much to Monica for walking Inky during the day. We came home to find a happy and contented dog. We would wholeheartedly reccommend Monica for dog walks. She is reliable, had great communication and we felt that Inky was very safe with her. We will definitely be booking with Monica again and will be recommending her services to friends in the Sligo area.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for Dog Walking in Sligo on Rover is {{median_grand_total_num.as_currency}} per walk (as of {{date}}). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of Dog Walking easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for Dog Walking.

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialise in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your Eircode to find a sitter within walking distance in your neighbourhood.

Whether you want a solo or group walk depends on your dog's personality. Solo walks can be beneficial for dog parents with reactive dogs, puppies, or dogs who are anxious around unfamiliar animals. Many dog walkers on Rover offer private, one-to-one walking services.

Group walks are a good fit for social dogs who enjoy structured walks. If your dog prefers the energy of a group stroll, ask your dog walker about group walks in your Sligo. Since all dog walkers are local, they may have a neighbourhood dog who is a good walking companion to yours.

Tip: Keep in mind that many cities require your dog walker to have a permit or licence for group walks.

For dog walking bookings, your dog walker can send a Rover Card with details about your dog’s walk. Rover Cards require at least one photo and may include a map of the walking route, the total walk time and distance, and any pee or poo breaks recorded by the walker.

The route map lets you review where your dog was walked in Sligo after the booking. It is not live GPS tracking.

Have specific details you would like included? Message your dog walker in the app before the walk begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to €25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every walker must complete an identity verification process before listing their services on Rover. This process checks that the sitter’s identity matches their provided documents.

Identity verification doesn't assess a sitter’s experience or suitability for your pet. To see if a sitter is the right fit, you can review each sitter's profile for ratings, verified reviews, repeat pet owner information and care style. We also recommend arranging a Meet & Greet to discuss your pet’s needs and make sure the walker is the right fit before booking.

For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When contacting your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who've never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover, but you're welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you've previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you're booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your walker interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you'll have a chance to go through your pet's routine, medical needs and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. A Meet & Greet is a great way to prepare your pet and walker for longer or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.

Yes, you can find sitters who can respond to your messages in under 5 minutes. To find the fastest available match, message multiple sitters with a recent 'calendar last updated' notice on their profiles.

Walkers on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three- or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-in visits, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12.00 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our booking protection will kick in. This means you'll get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement walker.
